Huawei Unveils Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 10 Porsche Design Smartphones – Price & Specs

From the last couple of months, Huawei is teasing the Mate 10 smartphones by poking fun at Apple and Samsung. Today, the company has officially unveiled two new smartphones in the Mate series called Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and Mate 10 Porsche Design at an event held in Munich, Germany. As teased earlier, the devices will be powered by the Kirin 970 SoC, the world’s first mobile AI processor with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This new AI processor is said to make these devices up to 60% more responsive.
Following the trend, the new Huawei smartphones also feature FullView displays offering long 18:9 aspect ratio. All the three devices come with metal and 3d glass combination. On the front, they come with all-screen displays with narrow bezels and supports HDR 10. While the Mate 10 comes with Cat.16 LTE modem, the Mate 10 Pro features even more advanced Cat.18 LTE modem and offers 1.2Gbps download speeds. They will be powered by the EMUI 8.0 (previous version is called EMUI 5.0) based on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
While the Mate 10 Pro comes with IP67 certification, the Mate 10 is only limited with IP53 certified. The Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10 Porsche Design lacks the 3.5mm audio jack and comes with USB Type-C to 3.5mm port adapter. On the connectivity front, the devices include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, and USB Type-C port.
Huawei Mate 10
The Mate 10 sports a 5.9-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) FullView LCD display. It includes 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be further expandable via MicroSD slot. In the camera department, there is a 20MP & 12MP dual camera setup on the rear with dual f/1.6 aperture, OIS, PDAF + CAF + Laser + Depth Auto Focus, 2x hybrid zoom, and dual-LED flash. For selfies, there is an 8MP fixed focus camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. The device comes in single & dual-SIM variants. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and the fingerprint sensor is placed on the front. The Mate 10 will be available in Black, Champagne Gold, and Mocha Brown colors. It measures 1505.5 x 77.8 x 8.2 mm and weighs 186 grams.
Huawei Mate 10 Pro
Compared to the Mate 10, the 6-inch FullView display on the Mate 10 Pro comes only with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution, but sports AMOLED panel instead of LCD panel. It comes in 4GB & 6GB RAM variants with 64GB & 128GB of internal storage. Both the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro shares the same cameras on the front and rear. There is no physical home button on the front and the fingerprint sensor is shifted to the rear of the device. The Mate 10 Pro measures 154.2 x 74.5 x 7.9 mm and weighs 178 grams. It will be available only in Titanium Grey color.
Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design
In terms of specifications, the Mate 10 Porsche Design is the same Mate 10 Pro but comes with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The Huawei logo on the bottom bezel on the front is replaced with Porsche Design logo. There is also a strip on the rear that holds the dual camera along with the fingerprint sensor and Porsche Design logo.
