Honor 8 with 12MP Dual Rear Cameras Launched in the U.S at $399

After unveiling the Honor 5X last year in China; Honor debuted the U.S smartphone market by launching it in the CES 2016 held in January. It is priced at US$ 200 and sports some decent specifications. Last month, the company also released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Honor 5X. Today (August 16th in the U.S), it had finally launched its latest flagship Honor 8 smartphone outside of its home country. Apart from Honor 8, the company also launched high-end Honor V8 and Honor Note 8 smartphones in China.

The newly launched Honor 8 comes with a glossy body with a metal frame around it. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with the latest EMUI 4.1 laid on top. On the back, there is a circular fingerprint sensor but missed the Huawei Pay which is only available in China. As seen on the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus; the Honor 8 sports dual rear cameras but only without Leica branding. Honor’s parent company, Huawei is also launching it flagship Huawei P9 today in India.

On the front is a 5.2-inch LTPS display with Full HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and features a 2.5D glass on top. There is a Honor logo on the front and rear of the device. It is powered by a Kirin 950 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz. The device comes with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage. The IR blaster can control the home appliances like TV, AC, and other just like a remote controller.

It sports 12MP dual cameras with 6P lens and f/2.2 aperture on the rear and is accompanied by laser autofocus and dual tone LED flash. On the front is an 8MP rear camera with wide-angle lens and f/2.4 aperture. The Honor 8 is powered by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and supports fast charging with the 9V/2A power adapter. The device is carrier free and can be used with any supported network. It supports dual SIM dual standby with the help of hybrid SIM slot. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and USB 2.0 Type-C port.
