Robot Vacuum Cleaner

With a variety of different smart devices, Xiaomi is clearly trying to tap into markets other than smartphones as well. The company already launched a bunch of different devices previously like Mi UAV, Mi Water, Mi Air, etc. And now after all this, the company might be planning to launch a new Robot Vacuum cleaner. Yes, this is going to launch soon. We don’t have much info about this device as of now, but it is reported that you will be able to control it with your smartphones as well.

Robot vacuum cleaners are not new to us. Brands like Yureka Forbes have been selling those in India for quite some time now. Yureka Forbes launched their robot vacuum cleaner called the Euroclean RoboCleanz back in 2011. Also, one of the companies which specialise in this category is none other than iRobot. iRobot Corporation is an American advanced technology company founded in 1990 by three MIT graduates who designed war robots. They also happen to sell their Robot Vacuum cleaners called the Roomba.

Roomba is a series of autonomous robotic vacuum cleaners sold by iRobot. This product was initially launched back in 2002 and since then the company has managed to sell over 10 million units of this worldwide. It has a series of different sensors, that allows it to move and change directions upon encountering an obstacle. It can also detect dirty spots on the floor. These disc-shaped models with 13″ diameter and has less than 3.5″ of height. According to company second quarter results for this year, it exceeded the expected results. The company is now expecting 2016 revenue of about $640 to $645 million.

Their latest offering in this segment is the high-end Roomba 980. With that being said, the company is now expecting a total revenue of $155 million to $160 million for the Q3 2016. However, Dyson is one of the leading players in this market. The Dyson 360 Eye launched by the company, is the world’s most advanced robot for this job. But yes, this guy will cost you $1000.

Xiaomi’s Robot Vacuum Cleaners

Now let’s talk about India. Here, the robot vacuum cleaner game is not so strong. There are various offerings from different manufacturers like Milagrow, Philips, etc. But most of them are priced upwards of 15,000 and usually consumers here not really willing to spend on a robot to clean the house. But of course, if it is priced less, then maybe the manufacturers can attract some attention. Now this is where Xiaomi comes in. We all know that the company is known for its affordable range of products that offers good value for money.

So now if Xiaomi decides to follow the same lines of affordable pricing, then we can expect this product to have huge demand. However, there are reports stating that the company will be pricing these at about 3000 Yuan, so hold your thought for now. All these speculations about the alleged new Robot Vacuum cleaners will be put to an end soon, as the launch date is reportedly scheduled on 31st of August. Stay tuned for more info on this.
