Joy Launches 13.3″ Interactive Photo Album Tablet with 10GB Cloud Storage

Joy, a hardware startup born in Silicon Valley has launched its first product this week. It is a 13.3-inch Full HD touchscreen tablet which displays only photos & videos; the company calls it an interactive photo album. Earlier we use to see the digital photo frames from the brands like Sony, Philips, and Samsung. While these digital photo frames come with a built-in storage and also accepts MicroSD card and pen drives, Joy’s tablet has no onboard storage and display images and videos only from cloud storage.

The company is offering 10GB of cloud storage for free with every purchase. In case if you are looking to store more photos and videos, the company is offering additional 500GB and 1TB of cloud storage at $6.99 and $9.99 per month respectively. The package also includes a Magnetic Stand that wirelessly charges the large tablet. It has only Wi-Fi 802.11 (b / g / n) connectivity since all the photos and videos will be stored in the cloud. The photos and videos from Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, and Google Photos cab be imported to Joy’s cloud storage.

It can be controlled with the exclusive Joy app that is available for both iOS and Android users.  There are also physical volume rocker buttons on the tablet for controlling the sound output. The stereo speakers on this device offer a great audio experience while watching videos. The photo and videos can be stored in the cloud using the Joy app or a simple email to ‘[email protected]’ with the album name as the subject. This interactive photo album costs $499 when it starts shipping in mid-2017, but now it is available to pre-order for just $299.

The unique feature of this tablet is ‘StoryTime’ where the users can cast the same screen on to others Joy tablet in real-time along with voice call. This huge tablet measures 346 x 217 x 22 mm and weighs 950 grams. It supports various file formats including GIFs, Panoramas, and even the 360-degree photos. It even got a funding of $2.5 million from various investors. There are many gadgets that have created a huge buzz with their Kickstarter listings but went dead without shipping the products. We hope the final version of the Joy tablet that will be shipped starting from next year to offer the same experience as shown in the above video.
