OPPO R9s Leaked to Feature 16MP Camera with F/1.7 Aperture, to Launch on October 19th
Just after the MWC 2016 in March, where OPPO showcased the SmartSensor Image Stabilization and Super VOOC technologies, OPPO launched two smartphones – OPPO R9 and R9 Plus in China. At that time the devices are just limited to the Chinese market and have received a great response for their camera capabilities along with other high-end specifications. Both the devices came with a Super AMOLED display and a 16MP selfie camera. These are also the best selling smartphones in the first half of 2016 in China. From the last few months, there are quite a few rumors about the launch of a third device in the R9 series called OPPO R9s.
Last month the company also launched the new variant of OPPO R9 with the model number R9km with JDI displays as there is a huge demand for AMOLED display panels. Now we got much more information related to the device along with a couple of poster images. The device is rumored to be launched officially on October 19th in China. We are also expecting the device to feature the latest Super VOOC flash charging technology that is rated to fully charge a 2,500mAh battery in just 15 minutes. It can reach from 0% to 45% within a time span of 5 minutes. Though it can be possible with the power adapter and the USB cable provided by the company.
Unlike the earlier launched R9 and R9 Plus, the OPPO R9s doesn’t feature an AMOLED display. It comes with a 5.5-inch IPS panel withFull HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. While the OPPO R9 came with a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, the upcoming R9s includes a 64-bit Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It also packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage along with MicroSD card for storage expansion. We are at least expecting the company to bring the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Color OS with the OPPO R9s.
The recently launched devices came with Color OS 3.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The design of the device remains same as on R9 and R9 Plus with an oval shaped physical home button on the front. The home button comes integrated with the fingerprint sensor. However, from the above images, we can see the Antenna bands missing on the rear. The power button is placed on the right edge of the device and the volume rocker sits on the left edge. It is backed by 3,010mAh non-removable battery along with OPPO’s patented VOOC flash charge support. The battery on this device is slightly better than the OPPO R9 which came with a 2,850mAh battery.
Connectivity options expected on this device are 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. Talking about the USP of the R9 series, the R9 came with a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a whopping 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. On the same lines, the OPPO R9s is mentioned to come with a 16MP camera with f/1.7 aperture that can capture better images even in low light conditions. We are expecting the company to offer the same sensor on the front and back of the device. We can expect even more details to be leaked in the coming days, so stay tuned on Phone Radar for more information about the upcoming OPPO R9s.
