Lenovo-Phab-2-Pro

Earlier we reported that the Lenovo PHAB 2 Pro with support for Project Tango is delayed and it will launch sometime in fall. This smartphone was scheduled to launch sometime in summer but the device launch was delayed and it was pushed back to fall from the summer launch. The company didn’t give us any info whatsoever on an exact launch date. But now according to the new reports, it looks like the device will be launching in the month of November after all.

Apparently, the head of VR technology division of the company confirmed yesterday at the end of Google Press event that the smartphone will be released in the month of November in the US and it will cost around $499. However, we still don’t have any official info on this, but it looks like the launch in November is imminent after all. Stay tuned for more details on the same soon in coming weeks.

Earlier- (September 12th) Lenovo launched the world’s first commercial project tango phone back in June 2016 and it was expected to go on sale soon. But now we have new reports stating that the launch might not happen as scheduled or expected. So if have been waiting for it to be made available in your country then you might have to wait longer. Yes, the company has now pushed the availability date of the device to fall from summer. This essentially means that we still don’t have any dates to report on the exact availability of the device.

Another thing to note here is, the device is not going to be available in certain countries. This includes the countries which were initially listed for the availability. One such country is Australia. It was reported earlier that the device will be available there, but now it looks like the company wants to focus more on other markets such as the Asia-Pacific etc. So in India the launch is imminent and it is expected to happen sometime next month. But as far as other countries go, we can only wait and see what happens.

Earlier- (June 9th) Lenovo launched the Phab 2 Pro smartphone as the world’s first “Tango Smartphone” along with the Phab 2 and Phab 2 Plus. As the name suggests, the Phab 2 Pro comes with a phablet-sized display and is the third smartphone in Phab series next to Phab and Phab Plus launched last year. The Phab 2 Pro runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. It can be used for 3D mapping which is the main motto of Tango (a.k.a Project Tango) and for the first time, it will be available to the public.

It has a 6.4-inch IPS display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution along with a 2.5D curved glass overlaid. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 510 GPU. It also includes 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The three-mic setup takes care of the noise cancellation, and it also includes a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear. The Dolby Audio Capture 5.1 and Dolby Atmos give the next of audio experience on this device even with the recording made on the device.

The Phab 2 Plus features a 16MP PDAF rear camera along with a depth sensor and motion tracking sensor that help in indoor navigation and 3D mapping. On the front is an 8MP sensor with 1.4um pixel size for better selfies. With all these specifications, the device is kept powered on by a 4,050mAh battery which also supports fast charging. It is priced at $499 and will be available in stock starting from September.
