Alcatel Pixi 4(7) 4G & Pixi 4(7) Wi-Fi Android Tablets Now Launched in India

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Alcatel has been one of the affordable smartphone makers in the Western markets. We have even seen high-end smartphones under the Idol series which costs lower than similar speced devices from other brands. However, Alcatel is known for the low-cost devices that are being launched under the Pixi series. Earlier this month, the company launched the Alcatel Pixi 4(6) phablet with a 6-inch display in India for Rs.9100. Today, it came out with two new Android tablets called Alcatel Pixi 4(7) 4G & Pixi 4(7) Wi-Fi. While the Alcatel Pixi 4(6) is sold via offline stores, the new Alcatel Pixi 4(7) tablets are exclusively available through Flipkart.

Alcatel Pixi 4(7) 4G

The Alcatel Pixi 4(7) 4G tablet sports decent specifications and is priced at Rs. 6,499. It comes with a polycarbonate shell and features a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 Pixels. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT8735B quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It includes 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded up to 64GB. Since the tablets are mostly used for media consumption, the lesser amount of RAM doesn’t make any difference. It even has dual SIM dual standby support and offers VoLTE for using with the Jio 4G SIM.

On the camera front, there is an 8MP rear camera without LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera. It still runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the customized UI laid on top. However, we don’t expect the company to release the Android 7.0 Nougat out for this device. The Alcatel Pixi 4(7) 4G also packs Proximity and G-Sensor. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that should give a good battery life on this tablet. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, USB OTG, GPS, A-GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.

Alcatel Pixi 4(7) Wi-Fi

Compared to the 4G + Wi-Fi variant, the Alcatel Pixi 4(7) Wi-Fi variant comes with very basic specifications. It costs just Rs. 3,999 and comes only in Smokey Grey color option. The Wi-Fi variant shares the same 7-inch display as on the 4G variant. It is powered by the 1.3GHz MediaTek MT8127 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. There is just 8GB of onboard storage on this tablet, but the user can expand up to additional 32GB using the MicroSD card slot. Since there is no cellular connectivity on this tablet, the user can’t make voice calls on this device.

There is a 2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front camera on the Alcatel Pixi 4(7) Wi-Fi variant. Considering the ultra cheap price tag, the battery capacity on this tablet is limited to just 2,580mAh compared to the 4,000mAh on the 4G variant. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and the connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right edge. Unlike the other low-cost tablets, The Alcatel Pixi 4(7) Wi-Fi is also dust and splash proof.

While the entry-level smartphones are getting better and better, the tablets still come with same old specifications. Even the major pie of the tablet market share in India comes from the low-cost tablets. Considering the cheap price tag of the Alcatel Pixi 4(7) 4G and Pixi 4(7) Wi-Fi, don’t know how many of them will be actually purchasing these tablets.
