Sharp Aquos R Compact Sports a Bezel-less Display with a Cut-out for Front Camera

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Last month, Sharp launched its latest flagship smartphone Sharp Aquos R in Japan. It packs the Snapdragon 835 SoC along with a Quad HD display and a 22.6MP primary camera. Now, the Sharp Aquos R Compact was leaked in press renders with a completely different design. Interestingly, this new device is said to be made available in the Europe. Most of the newly launched flagship devices trimmed down the bezels to make the device feel small in hand, and the upcoming Sharp Aquos R Compact also continues to follow the same trend.

While there are minimal bezels on the top and side edges, there is a big chunk of empty real estate on the bottom bezel. For the first time, we are seeing the top middle part of the smartphone display is fitted with the front facing camera. The selfie camera on the device cuts the notification panel into two halves. From the images, we can see the device to come with shiny finish metal built body and a 2.5D curved glass on the front. We see the sharp corners on the bottom edges of the display, whereas the top edges are curved as seen on the Galaxy S8 and LG G6 displays.

Apart from a couple of leaked images, there is no other information about the Sharp Aquos R Compact. The bezel-less Mi MIX launched last year used the new innovative technologies to replace the proximity sensor and earpiece. But the Sharp Aquos R seems to feature the regular earpiece and sensors. The power button and the volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. Beneath the display, we can spot the large home button that might come with the integrated fingerprint sensor. Takes these details with a pinch of salt as there is no official confirmation.

The earlier launched Sharp Aquos R Compact came with a 5.7-inch display, and we expect the Aquos R Compact to come with a smaller display. As seen with the recent Sharp smartphones It will be running on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with the almost stock Android UI look. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the Aquos R Compact smartphone.
