Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with 6.4″ Display Confirmed to Launch on May 25th
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Last month, Xiaomi officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone called Mi 6 in China. While there is no official confirmation, the Mi 6 might not be made available here in India. However, there are also rumors about the Mi Max 2 from the last couple of months. It will be the successor to the last year’s Mi Max that came with a huge 6.44-inch display. A new device with the codename Oxygen was spotted last month on GFXbench revealing the key specification. Looking at the screen size, we expected that to be the upcoming Mi Max 2.
Today, the company has officially released the teaser image of the Mi Max confirming the launch date as May 25th in China. It comes with a 6.4-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) whereas the first-gen Mi Max came with a 6.44-inch display. It is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. Few rumors also suggest the Mi Max 2 to come with the newly announced Snapdragon 660 SoC that comes with Adreno 512 GPU. This new processor brings the Bluetooth 5.0 support along with Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.
The listing on the benchmarking website mentioned the device to pack 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. There might be an expandable storage option using the hybrid SIM slot. As seen with the original Mi Max, we also expect to see few other storage variants. The listing also mentioned the device to run on Android 7.1.1 out of the box. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is the first Xiaomi smartphone to come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Talking about the cameras, the 16MP rear camera from the Mi Max is now replaced with a 12MP sensor.
The recently launched Mi 6 came with dual 12MP cameras on the rear. We also expect to see the NFC support along with fingerprint sensor for using the Mi Pay mobile payment service in China. It will also support dual SIM dual standby, and the connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. The Mi Max 2 also packs a bunch of sensors including accelerometer, barometer, compass, gyroscope, pedometer, proximity, and light sensor. Since the launch event in just a week away, more leaks can be expected soon. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
