Meizu Launches Pro 7 & Pro 7 Plus Smartphones with Dual Rear Cameras & Dual Displays

Meizu is the latest Chinese smartphone brand to launch its 2017 flagship smartphones. As leaks and rumors suggested, the company unveiled the Meizu Pro 7 and Meizu Pro 7 Plus smartphones in China. As heard earlier, the device comes with the innovative dual displays. Though LG and HTC have implemented the secondary display on top of the primary display, Meizu added it on the rear. The device sports premium looking design and features top notch specifications. While few leaks suggested Pro 7 devices to use the Samsung’s Exynos 8895 SoC, the devices actually sports MediaTek Helio processors.
We are looking at the Super AMOLED displays on the front and back of the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus smartphones. Apart from showing the time, weather, and notifications, the secondary display can be used as a viewfinder for capturing selfies using the dual rear cameras. The 1.9-inch rear facing Super AMOLED display comes with 240 x 536 pixels resolution and offers a pixel density of 307 PPI. Both the devices run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based Flyme OS 6. On the front is a physical home button that also houses the fingerprint sensor for authenticating the payments via WeChat and AliPay.
Talking about the dual camera setup, the Pro 7 sports a 12MP RGB sensor and a 12MP Monochrome sensor along with f/2.0 aperture, 6P lens, and PDAF. For selfies, there is a 16MP front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. It uses the ArcSoft beauty algorithm adaptive skin technology to make the selfies look better. The Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus also sports Cirrus Logic CS43130 audio chip that offers Hi-Fi audio output with minimum power consumption. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, 3.5mm audio port, and USB Type-C.
Meizu Pro 7
The Meizu Pro comes with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It comes with 4GB LPDDR 4X RAM and will be available in two variants with 64GB (eMMC5.1) and 128GB (UFS2.1) storage options. The 64GB storage variant is powered by Helio P25 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and comes coupled with Mali-T880 GPU. On the other hand, the 128GB storage variant houses the 2.6GHz Helio X30 deca-core processor built on the 10nm manufacturing process. It is backed by 3,000mAh non-removable battery and supports mCharge 3.0 fast charging. It measures 147.62 x 70.72 x 7.3 mm and weighs 163 grams.
Meizu Pro 7 Plus
Compared to the Meizu Pro 7, the Plus variant sports a bigger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display and also offers Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the Pro 7 Plus houses the 2.6GHz Helio x30 deca-core processor coupled with Mali-T880 GPU. There is 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and comes in 64GB and 128GB UFS2.1 storage options. With a bigger form factor, it also includes a bigger 3,500mAh battery that should easily give a day long battery life. It also supports the latest 25W (5V/5A) mCharge 4.0 fast charging technology that charge from 0% to 67% in just 30 minutes. The Meizu Pro 7 Plus measures 157.34 x 77.24 x 7.3 mm and weighs 170 grams.
The company also unveiled the Meizu Flow headset that costs 599 Yuan, but the company is offering 100 Yuan discount when purchased along with the Meizu Pro 7 or Pro 7 Plus smartphone. The Meizu Pro 7 Plus comes in Silver, Black, and Gold color options. It costs 3580 yuan for the 64GB storage variant and 4080 yuan for the 128GB storage variant. The Meizu Pro 7 additionally comes in Red color and coming to the pricing; the Helio P25 powered variant costs 2880 Yuan while the Helio X30 powered variant costs 3380 yuan. Both the devices will go on sale from August 5th only in China. We have to wait for few more weeks to know about the availability of these devices in the foreign markets.
