Amazon has revealed four new Echo products along with the Fire TV with 4K HDR Support at an event held at its headquarters in Seattle. The company also announced the partnership with BMW for making the Amazon’s Alexa available in BMW cars. Talking about the new Amazon Echo, it is the successor to the original Echo debuted in 2014. It is priced at $100 and there is also three pack which brings the cost down by 50%. The three pack also enables the most requested Multi-room audio and this comes when there are leaks about Sonos launching its first speaker with Amazon Alexa.
The second-gen Amazon Echo is about a half in length when compared to its predecessor. Even with the smaller form factor, the second-gen Echo packs a dedicated bass tweeter. It built out of metal and the outer shell is wrapped in the cloth. Just like the Google Home, the user can choose between the different color options of the outer shell. The second device to launch is the Echo Connect and is priced at $35. This new accessory from Amazon connects the Echo devices to the landline phones. With this integration, all the Echo users with landline phones make calls by just using their voice.
This is the also most affordable way as there is no need for separate connection for making calls. Both the Amazon Echo and Echo Connect will be available to pre-order starting today and goes on sale later this year. The Amazon Echo can also make free calls to the U.S, Canada, and Mexico. The Amazon Echo Buttons are the tiny Bluetooth-connected multicolored buttons for Amazon Echo and cost $20 for a set of two. They can be customized for doing a certain purpose of work on Amazon Alexa. The Echo Spot is the round version of the Echo Show launched earlier this year.
It comes with a 2.5-inch display that shows information like Time, Weather, and other notifications. It comes with built-in Alexa support and can also make video calls. The Echo Spot comes with a price tag of $129 and will go on sale starting December. The final Echo product is the $150 Amazon Echo Plus which also acts as a hub for the Alexa connected smart home. With the Echo Plus, the user can control the lights, cameras, and other smart products in their home. Talking about the all-new Fire TV dongle, it can be connected to the regular TV using the HDMI port for experiencing the smart TV features.
The new Fire TV costs just $70 and brings in 4K, HDR, and Dolby Atmos support. It sports a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and comes supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity. Amazon is also offering the Alexa-enabled voice remote along with the Fire TV dongle. As of now, all these products are limited to the Western market and don’t expect them to launch in India anytime soon.
