LG has introduced a new k-series smartphone called “LG K7i” today in India. It is priced at Rs. 7,990 and will soon go on sale through the offline retail stores. The device packs entry-level specifications and but comes with an interesting feature called as Mosquito Away technology. Before launching this new smartphone, the Mosquito Away technology was used in the LG’s Air Conditioners and TVs. There is a huge bump on the bottom rear of the device from where the ultrasonic sound waves are released to keep the mosquitos away.
The company also confirmed that these ultrasonic waves are absolutely safe for humans. Unlike the mosquito repellent machines, the Mosquito Away technology on the LG K7i is silent, odorless, and also user-friendly. Talking about the specifications, the smartphone comes with a 5-inch In-Cell display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. The device also packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expandable up to 256GB via a MicroSD card slot.
It still runs on the year’s old Android 6.0 Marshmallow and there is no word on Android Nougat update. In the camera department, there is an 8MP camera on the rear with an LED flash and a 5MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls. The LG K7i is backed by a 2,500mAh removable battery that might not last more than a day of usage. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The LG K7i also supports dual SIM dual standby and comes with a dedicated MicroSD card slot.
The smartphone measures 8.1mm in thickness and weighs almost 138 grams. It will be available only in Brown color option. Apart from the Mosquito Away technology, the LG K7i is the same LG K8 2017 which was earlier this year in India for Rs. 9,999. Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this.
