New Nokia 3310 Feature Phone with 3G Support Launched at Rs. 5,350

At the MWC 2017 event held in Barcelona, Nokia announced all-new Nokia 3310 feature phone alongside the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 Android smartphones. Just like the 17 year’s old predecessor, the new Nokia 3310 also came with only 2G support. While most of the countries still offer 2G connectivity, a few developed nations went ahead with the new technologies and shut down the 2G networks.The Netherlands, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia are few of those markets where the new Nokia 3310 is useless as there is no 2G network. Today, the HMD Global came with a new variant called Nokia 3310 3G that supports 3G bands.
Commenting on the launch, Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global, said,
“Our reimagining of the Nokia 3310 has been a global and cultural phenomenon. In a world dominated by smartphones, the mix of nostalgia and a beautiful phone that just keeps going has captured people’s imagination. Our fans around the world have been asking for this iconic phone to support 3G. Fans asked, we listened, and today welcome the Nokia 3310 3G.”
Without any surprises, Australia is the first market to get this new Nokia 3310 3G. Talking about the pricing, the 3G variant of the new Nokia 3310 costs AUD 89.95 in Australia. The company also mentioned the global pricing of this new device as EUR 69 (approx Rs. 5,350). It will go on sale starting October 16th in Australia and will be available through JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Telstra, and Vodafone. The Nokia 3310 3G also comes with a new retro UI that brings in new customizations. It will be available in Yellow, Warm Red, Blue, and Charcoal color options. All these variants come with a matte finish and sports silver keypads.
The users can also enjoy the classic Snake game with new animations. It sports a 2.4-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) color display and includes 64MB of storage that can be expandable up to 32GB via a MicroSD card slot. There is a 2MP camera on the rear with LED flash. It runs on Feature OS powered by Java. The Nokia 3310 3G is backed by a 1,200mAh battery that gives up to 6.5 hours of talk time and gives maximum standby time up to 27 days on single SIM and up to 24 days on dual SIM. It measures 117 x 52.4 x 13.3 mm and weighs 88.2 grams. Connectivity options include 3G, Bluetooth 2.1, FM Radio, and Micro-USB 2.0 port.
