Sharp Aquos Z2 with Helio X20 SoC & 4GB RAM Launched in Taiwan
The Japanese smartphone brand, Sharp has launched its latest smartphone Aquos Z2 today in Taiwan. The device is priced at NT$ 8,990 (approx $284 / Rs. 19,000) and sports high-end specifications. It sports a metallic built body with a 2.5D glass laid on the front. Just like other affordable mid-range devices, the top and the bottom rear aren’t made up of metal. It comes in two color options – Gold and Silver.
It comes with a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution display and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood is the MediaTek’s Helio X20 deca-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz. It also packs 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded through the MicroSD card slot. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE on only one SIM.
On the camera front, there is a 16MP rear sensor with PDAF & dual tone LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera with f/1.8 aperture and 82-degree wide angle lens. It is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery that supports fast charging with the MediaTek’s Pump Express technology. The company claims that the device can give 1 hour of talk time with just 10 minutes of charging.
On the bottom edge is the USB Type-C port but only supports USB 2.0 and besides it stereo speaker. On the top edge is an IR blaster that can control other home appliances just the remote controller. Below the rear camera is the fingerprint sensor that can also be used as a shutter button in the camera app. Earlier today Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 4 in China with few similar specifications at the half the price of Aquos Z2.
A couple of weeks back, Sharp launched the Aquos M1 smartphone that looks similar to the Xiaomi Mi 5. It comes with a curved back panel, and the camera is placed on the top left corner on the rear. It also sports 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6753 processor whereas the Mi 5 came with flagship specifications. It has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.
The device is backed by a 2,600mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Interestingly, the device is priced similarly to the Aquos Z2 which was launched with way better specifications.
