Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview 3 brings Google Play Store, release pushed to 2017
Earlier today, Google released the third Developer Preview of the upcoming most anticipated Android Wear 2.0 OS. The second developer preview went live a couple of months back, and now this new one came out. Interestingly, this new version brings more new features to the table from the previous one. The most important feature here is the addition of the Google Play store straight into your watch. This is definitely a huge upgrade and will certainly be welcomed by many.
Now with the addition of the Google Play store, users won’t have to fiddle around back and forth to your smartphone in order to install new apps on your watch. This can now be directly added from your watch. According to the company, this will allow them to reach out with the watch to more and more developers and people. Also, the Play Store comes with a variety of different features, just like the one in your smartphone.
The home screen in the play store here welcomes you with a variety of different app recommendations, and users can also search using voice commands, handwriting, and other queries. All this makes the experience a whole lot better. And not just this, you can also switch between multiple accounts and also participate in all the alpha and beta tests. And all of this works independently of your smartphone. There are other features like better complications, etc.
But the only thing which is quite disappointing is the fact that the company is pushing the final rollout to early 2017. Previously this was announced to roll out by fall 2016. We do believe that this decision has been taken for further improving the performance of the software. And we would like to see a proper build rather than having something early which is incomplete. So we just have to and see what we get here by early 2017. Stay tuned for more info on this.
