Coolpad A9S-9 with Metal Body & Fingerprint Scanner spotted online, expected to be the Cool 2

Coolpad Max (9)

A couple of months back, a new device was spotted online in the China regulatory website, TENAA. Now after all this time, we have a leaked image of the same device. The leaked image from the source shows us the device which is similar to what we saw earlier at the TENAA listing last month. It has a metal body and a fingerprint scanner at the back along with the rear camera sensor at the top.

This build looks something different from what we usually get from the company. So it is speculated that this might as well be the Cool2 smartphone. If you don’t know what Cool1 is, well it is a smartphone built by both LeEco and Coolpad. It sports some serious specs under the hood. So if this one is a successor to the Cool1, then definitely it is going to be a great smartphone and something to look forward to in the future. Stay tuned for more info on this as we will update once we have some details on them.

Earlier (August 31st): Earlier, we saw some of the specs of this upcoming service from Coolpad, that surfaced on GFXBench. But we didn’t have any images of the device, so we didn’t know what the device would look like. Now we have some of the images for the device which was spotted online earlier today.

Taking a look at the images, it looks like a fairly simple design. It has a fingerprint scanner at the back and from the sides, it resembles the design of an iPhone. On the front, we have the 5.5-inch display as well. Stay tuned for more detailed info about this device in future.

Coolpad - 4 Coolpad - 3 Coolpad - 2 Coolpad

Earlier (July 15th): A new variant of the Coolpad surfaced online today on the GFXBench website. Dubbed as Coolpad A9S-9, it looks like this new device will be equipped with the latest MediaTek Helio P20 processor. According to the GFXBench internet site, the device will feature a 5.5-inch display FHD display and of course the Helio P20 octa-core MT6757 processor as mentioned before, and it will be clocked at 2.23 GHz. For graphics, it has the new Mali-T880. It will also pack 4GB of RAM and will be equipped with 64GB of internal storage.

On the camera side, we have a 13-megapixel rear facing camera and an 8-megapixel front facing shooter. It appears that the device will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Talking about the new Helio P20, it is an upgrade to the previously launched Helio P10 in many ways. The P10 was clocked at 2 GHz whereas the new one is clocked at 2.3 GHz. We are seeing an upgrade in terms of Graphics also as the previous version had the Mali-T860 MP2 which had a core clock of 700 MHz and the new one has the Mali-T880 MP2, which is clocked at 900 Mhz.

So we are seeing a complete upgrade here as both the CPU and the GPU are upgraded and clocked at a higher frequency than the older one. There are also other various upgrades apart from the clock speed. The new version also supports various different connectivity options like LTE Cat.6 etc. Looking at previous launches from the company, it launched the Coolpad Max smartphone in India at Rs. 24,999. It comes with an all metal body and a 5.5-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 4 display. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF, and a 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Talking about this new leaked Coolpad device, we have no confirmation about the device apart from these specs and we suggest you to take this leak with a pinch of salt as it may or may not see the light of day. Stay tuned for more information on this.
