Google’s New Smartphones Pixel, Pixel XL Launched – Everything you need to know
Just like every year, Google has now launched its flagship smartphones for the year 2016. These are the new Pixel and the Pixel XL smartphones. Well, there was nothing much left to know about the device, thanks to all the rumours and the leaks. But what we didn’t know was the prices of both of these devices. But before that, let’s just take a quick look at the specs of the smartphones and see if they are any good.
As we already saw from all the rumours and the leaks, the company launched two smartphones today. So now let’s talk about the Google Pixel which is the smaller of the two devices. So the Google Pixel sports a 5-inch FHD display on the front. The display is protected by the Gorilla Glass 4. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 SoC which is a quad-core CPU along with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. It packs 4GB of RAM and has 32GB or 128GB of internal storage as well.
Now coming to the camera side of things, we are looking at a 12-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture at the back with OIS. On the front, we have an 8-megapixel selfie shooter as well. Both the cameras are a good update from the last year’s Nexus 5X. And the device is kept powered by a 2,770 mAh battery and it runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. The Pixel also sports a fingerprint scanner at the back and comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. The bigger version also comes in with a 128GB internal storage as well.
On the hand, when you talk about the Pixel XL smartphone, the specs more or less remains the same and the only difference is the display size and the battery. The Pixel XL comes with a 5.5-inch QHD display on the front. The Pixel XL also has a slightly better battery coming in at 3,450 mAh which should last longer and also supports fast charging. All the other specs are pretty much the same as that of the smaller Pixel smartphone.
Both the Pixel and the Pixel XL smartphone will be available in three different colors i.e. the Really blue, Very silver and Quite black starting from October 20th. The Pixel is priced at $649 for the 32GB & $749 for the 128GB storage variant and the Pixel XL, on the other hand, is priced at $769. The 128GB of the bigger variant is priced at $869. The devices will be available in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, and Germany this month. Both the smartphones will be available in November to purchase in India and it is expected that they will be sold via Flipkart, Reliance Digital & Croma.
And now that we know everything about the devices and they are officially announced, it’s time to think about how different these smartphones are, when compared to the last year’s devices. Long story short, no wait for its not a short story and hence we have covered an entirely different article on that. So you can check them out and see if the new Pixel is any better than the last year’s LG Nexus 5X and also you check out and see if the Pixel XL is a worthy upgrade. Well, do let us know if you liked both the devices and if you will be picking one up. Stay tuned for more detailed info and other coverage soon.
