You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
While the Samsung reportedly postponed its Galaxy S8 launch event to April 2017, another South Korean company, LG has released the MWC 2017 invitation confirming the launch of LG G6 smartphone on February 26th. We already got the rough design of the LG G6 from leaked sketches and the back cases. In the invitation, the company mentioned the device to come with a Big screen that can easily fit into a rough sketch that is shown beside. This new flagship device comes with rounded corners and offers higher screen-to-body ratio leaving very thin bezels on all the four sides. The lock screen UI is the same that we had earlier seen on the save the date image.
The LG G6 is said to come with a display offering 18:9 aspect ratio and will be powered by Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor instead of the latest 10nm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor. The Snapdragon 821 SoC is an upgraded variant of the last year’s Snapdragon 820 SoC offering 10% boost in the performance. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 835 SoC offers better performance and will also be power efficient. As it is built using the 10nm FinFET process, it comes in a very small size which gives the manufacturers a little more free space to include other hardware. LG’s own V20 smartphone is the first device to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, even before to the Google Nexus or the Pixel smartphones.
The LG G6 might come with updated Android 7.1.1 Nougat with its own UX UI skin laid on top. While all the other manufacturers opted for the non-removable batteries in their flagship devices a few of years back, LG offered this feature till the recently launched LG V20. Now in 2017, the company is finally giving up the removable battery feature and will make the device water and dust resistant. There will be no modular feature that was earlier seen on the LG G5. It is expected to come with an all-metal body with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display on the front. The credible tipster, Evan Blass also tweeted saying the LG G6 to go on sale starting from April 7th in the U.S.
This is almost a month after launching in its home country, South Korea where it will be available from March 9th. In the U.S, the company will be left with two weeks before the Samsung Galaxy S8 officially launches on April 21st. While the Samsung is rumored to remove the 3.5mm audio port from its upcoming flagship device, LG still offers this traditional feature. On the back of the device, we will be seeing the dual rear cameras and on the front will be single selfie camera which also doubles up as an IRIS scanner. Take the specifications with a pinch of salt as there is no official confirmation. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for the latest updates about the upcoming flagship smartphones.
