Moto G5 & Moto G5 Plus Smartphones Leaked Ahead of Their Launch

The Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are expected to launch at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event. Both these mid-range devices will succeed the popular Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus smartphones. However in an unlikely event, the electronics retailer, K-Tronix accidentally listed both the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus with complete details ahead of its official launch. The devices look similar as seen in the earlier leaked images with a big circular camera module and metal built body. For comparison, last year’s Moto G4 devices came with a polycarbonate back body. The devices run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Moto G5
The Moto G5 comes with a 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display offering a pixel density of 441 ppi and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and comes coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There is also MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage up to 128GB. On the camera front, the Moto G5 offers a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and LED flash. The 5MP camera on the front comes with the wide-angle lens for capturing wider selfies. Unlike the Moto G4, the Moto G5 comes with the fingerprint sensor.
It is also splash proof with the water repellent coating. The device is backed by a 2,800mAh removable battery that is mentioned to give all day battery life. It comes with 10W (5V / 2A) rapid charging support. Connectivity options on this dual SIM include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS. It measures 144.3 x 73 x 9.5 mm and weighs 145 grams. The Moto G5 also packs Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Ambient Light, and Proximity sensors. From the images, we can still large bezels on top and bottom of the display. The Lenovo K6 Power which is currently retailing under Rs. 10,000 packs better specifications than the Moto G5.
Moto G5 Plus
As rumored earlier, the Moto G5 Plus comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by the 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Though there is no listing, we also expect the company to launch the another variant of Moto G5 Plus with 3GB or 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of onboard storage that can be expanded upto another 128GB. It is also splash proof and sports the front facing fingerprint sensor. With the NFC support, the Moto G5 Plus can be used for mobile payment services like Android Pay and Samsung Pay.
There is a 12MP camera with dual autofocus pixels on the rear and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. It offers the same connectivity options as seen on the above mentioned Moto G5. The SIM card slot is placed on top of the device, whereas the volume rocker and power button can be found o the right edge. With the slightly powerful specification, the Moto G5 Plus comes with a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and is mentioned to give 6 hours of battery life with the 15 minutes of charging using the Turbopower charger.The device measures 150.2 x 74 x 7.9 mm and weighs 155 grams.
Both the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphone will be available in Lunar Grey and Fine Gold color options. The official pricing and the availability of the device will be announced at the company’s press event on February 26th. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
