After teasing from a week, Swipe has launched its latest entry-level smartphone Swipe Elite 3 today in the market. The device is priced at Rs. 5,499 and is exclusively sold through Flipkart. The device is available in Space Grey and Champagne Gold color options and will be in stock starting tomorrow. It is the successor to the Elite 2 which is also a Flipkart exclusive device. With such a low price tag, the Elite 3 packs decent specifications packed into a polycarbonate shell. Much like any other smartphone from the local manufacturers, Swipe is also offering 12 regional languages which come integrated into the OS.
Announcing the launch, Shripal Gandhi, Founder and CEO of Swipe Technologies, said,
“India might be the world’s fastest growing smartphone market but one of the biggest problems that many users face is that the user interface of most smartphones is English. Google says that Hindi content consumption, for instance, has increased five times when compared to English content in India, and even local language search queries have increased 10 times over the last 18 months alone. Taking cue from these trends, Swipe has developed a powerful smartphone that is sleek, superfast, functional, caters to regional needs and affordable too.”
The device is also 4G VoLTE enabled and can be used with Jio 4G SIM. With the Jio Happy New Year offer, the user can get unlimited free data (FUP @ 1GB/day), voice calls, and SMS for free till the end of March 2017. Though there are many other cheaper smartphones than the Elite 3 offering 4G VoLTE, they lack the basic specifications to get the lag free experience. It sports a5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels). Under the hood is the 32-bit Spreadtrum SC9832 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The device also packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can further expandable upto 32GB.
There is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera with fixed focus. The Elite 3 runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Indus OS. It also includes few pre-installed bloatware apps like opera mini, It supports dual SIM dual standby with the help of hybrid SIM slot. The 2,500mAh battery can easily give a day long battery life with all these entry-level specifications. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and a MicroUSB port. In December last year, the company also launched the 4G VoLTE supported Swipe Konnect Neo 4G smartphones at just Rs. 2,899.
The 4-inch Konnect Neo 4G sports a 5MP camera with LED flash on the rear and a 1.3MP camera on the front. It comes with very basic specifications like 512MB and 4GB of internal storage. While we can’t install many apps on this device, it might not even run the with such a low RAM. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and features a 2,000mAh battery. Unlike the Elite series smartphones which are sold via Flipkart, the Konnect smartphones are most launched through not so popular online stores like Shopclues.
