At the MWC 2017, Sony unveiled the Xperia XZ Premium along with Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra smartphones. The company launched the Xperia XA1 in the Indian market in April for Rs. 19,990. Today, the company also launched the Xperia XA1 Ultra for Rs. 29,990. A few days ago, Xiaomi also launched a new phablet called Mi Max 2 with high-end specifications for Rs. 16,999. The Xperia XA1 Ultra is the successor to XA Ultra, and it has to compete with the Mi Max 2 in both online and offline markets. Talking about the design, the Xperia XA1 Ultra looks similar to its predecessor.
It sports a metal built body with a 2.5D curved glass on the front. As said earlier, the Xperia XA1 Ultra comes with a large 6-inch edge-to-edge display offering Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz. It includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card for further expansion of storage. Even with all these high-end specifications, the device still misses the fingerprint sensor. In the camera department, there is a 23MP sensor on the rear with hybrid autofocus and f/2.0 aperture.
For selfies, the Xperia XA1 Ultra sports a 16MP autofocus front camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Both the front and rear camera are accompanied with LED flash. With a large 6-inch form factor, the Xperia XA1 Ultra only comes with a 2,700mAh non-removable battery. It measures 165 x 79 x 8.1 mm and weighs 188 grams. The device will be available in White, Black, Gold and Pink color options. Sony is also offering three months subscription for Sony LIV for free. There is also a Rs. 1,000 discount when purchased along with Style Cover Stand.
