In the last one month, Huawei has posted several videos on social media taking jabs at the new Samsung and Apple products. All this fun lead us to the October 16th launch of the new Huawei Mate 10 smartphones. Based on the leaks, we expect to see Huawei Mate 10 Lite along with Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro on the launch day. Now, we are talking about the Mate 10 Lite (codenamed Rhone) which will be the least expensive on the list but still packs beefy specifications. The Mate 10 Lite is expected to be the same Huawei G10 (or Huawei Maimang 6) that will go official in China on September 22nd.
It sports a unibody metal design with the protruding rear camera. On the front is the 5.9-inch FHD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio that offers 83% screen-to-body ratio. The Mate 10 Lite will be the company’s first smartphone with an 18:9 display in the global markets. Under the hood, the device will be powered by the in-house Kirin 659 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36GHz and comes coupled with Mali T830 MP2 GPU. The Kirin 659 processor is first debuted with the Nova 2 & Nova 2 Plus smartphones launched in the first half of this year.
The Mate 10 Lite will be running on the all-new Android 8.0 Oreo based EMUI 5.1 out of the box. It also includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Talking about the cameras, this device features a total of four cameras sensors. There will be a 16MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the rear and a 13MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the front for selfies. According to Evan Blass, the selfie camera will offer a two-person bokeh effect. It gets its juice from the 3,340mAh non-removable battery that might also support fast charging.
Looking at the TENAA Listing of the Huawei G10, we might see an expandable MicroSD slot on the Mate 10 Lite as well. It will be measuring 156.2 × 75.2 × 7.5 mm and weighs 164 grams. While the official launch event is scheduled for October 16th, the device will start shipping a month later. It will be priced at €379 ($455) and comes in Blue, Black, and Gold color options. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details about the upcoming Huawei Mate 10 smartphones.
