Samsung has Reportedly Started Working on Android 8.0 Oreo Update for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus

Samsung launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus flagship smartphones in the first half 2017 with the revamped user interface. The devices came with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and offered many new features like Samsung Experience UI, Bixby AI, On-screen Navigation Buttons and Pressure Sensitive Home Button. However, many other Galaxy smartphones are yet to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat. This week, the company has released the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J7 2016 smartphones.
Now, the latest report suggests Samsung has already begun working on the Android 8.0 Oreo based new Samsung Experience update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones. The G955FXXU1BQI1 and G950FXXU1BQI1 are expected to be new firmware updates that bring Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus respectively. As seen with the Android 7.0 Nougat beta testing for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones, the company might soon start the Android 8.0 Oreo beta testing for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones.
According to Sammobile, the Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 devices could be rolled out faster than last year as the company started merging their firmwares into multi-CSC firmwares. While the all-new Android 8.0 Oreo brings in a ton of new features, Samsung might not include all of them into their customized OS. With the Android 8.0 Oreo, the Google increasing the automatic limits for background usage for apps to increase the battery life. The Autofill APIs will allow the password manager apps to work fluently with the OS.
The new update will also bring the Picture-in-Picture mode which is already available for flagship Galaxy devices like Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. With the increasing usage of emojis for conversation, the new Oreo update adds a new style along with 60 new emojis. As of now, there is no timeline mentioned for rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones.
