Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 to Launch with Snapdragon 836 SoC & Android 8.0 Oreo
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Next week, Xiaomi will be unveiling its latest global flagship smartphone with dual camera setup in India. While there is no confirmation, we expect it to be Xiaomi Mi A1 Android One smartphone. Unlike many rumors, we might not get any bezel-less display with this device. After the launch of its global flagship smartphone, the company will be launching two new flagship smartphones for the Chinese market. We expect them to be the Mi Note 3 and Mi MIX 2, the successors to last year’s Mi Note 2 and Mi MIX.
As seen with the original Mi MIX, the new Mi MIX 2 also comes with the three-sided bezel-less display. The bottom chin on the Mi MIX 2 will be thinner than on the predecessor. Now, the latest report suggests the device to come powered by Snapdragon 836 octa-core processor. Even the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are also said to use the same processor. The last year’s Mi MIX also came powered by Snapdragon 821 SoC, the upgraded variant of the Snapdragon 820 SoC.
Interestingly, the device is mentioned to run on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. As seen with the other Chinese smartphone brands, Xiaomi also release the Android update very lately. Just last month, the company started releasing the Android 7.0 Nougat MIUI update for selected Xiaomi smartphones. While most of the manufacturers release only two major updates for their devices, Xiaomi recently released the Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 9 update for the Mi 2 launched in 2012.
Talking about the Mi MIX 2, it is mentioned to come with a 6.2-inch bezel-less display with a Quad HD+ (2960 x 1440 pixels) resolution. The smartphone also comes with 6GB of RAM and will be available in 128GB and 256GB storage options. It is backed by a 4,400mAh non-removable battery and will support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology. In the camera department, the device sports a 20MP camera on the rear and few leaks also hinted the Mi MIX 2 to come with dual camera setup.
Since the official launch date is just 10 days away, we can expect more leaks to follow soon. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details.
