Aircel Telecom Operator Offers 33% Extra Data Benefits to its Subscribers in Kolkatta

Aircel, a telecom operator, based out of Chennai has announced revised tariff plans for its subscribers in Kolkatta. In the wake of Reliance Jio extending it’s 4G services under JIO Preview Offer to a list of popular smartphone brands in the country. The south-based telecom mobile operator has increased the data benefit to it’s largest subscriber circle.

Maxis owned company has reportedly 40 million subscribers in Kolkatta circle. The company was earlier charging data tariffs similar to what Bharti Airtel, IDEA Cellular and Vodafone India were charging. Until the top, three telecom firms decided to revise their intent packs in all circles where they are currently licensed to provide services.

If you recall, Airtel, Idea and Vodafone, they all announced up to 67% benefits on their data packs. As the Jio 4G commercial launch nears, the current telecom players fear that they might lose their subscriber base to Mukesh Ambani-owned telecom firm. As TRAI, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India recently finished implementing national mobile number portability. It was in pending since the MNP for the same circle was announced approximately five years ago.

Talking about the revision of tariffs, Aircel users can now enjoy extra 250MB data on existing 1GB 3G data pack that costs Rs 198. The benefits are also revised for mid as well as high range data packs. The same Rs 399 pack, which is valid for 28 days now offers 33% extra data at 4GB; it was earlier 3GB. Users who were interested in Rs 1397 pack can now enjoy 18GB 3G data for 60 days. There is 20% increase in data as well as validity is increased to doubled.

Despite being in talks for a merger with Reliance Communications (Anil Ambani-owned), who is said to offer Aircel customers 4G services using JIO 4G and their own 4G network. It is a clear indication that Aircel doesn’t want to lose it’s market share to any competitors. It is believed that company would soon come up with data tariff revision in other circles as well. So, Aircel users can rejoice and enjoy more data benefits on their current mobile number.
