Apple iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus to be Waterproof & feature new Apple A10 SoC
Apple will be officially launching iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in San Francisco on September 7th. Till date, we have seen several leaks including the videos which revealed most of the new features that will be officially announced on the launch day. While there are also rumors about the launch of a third device called iPhone 7 Pro, now it is unofficially confirmed that there will only be two devices as seen in the last couple of years. The screen size and resolutions of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will remain same as on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
However, the KGI reports revealed that both the displays on the upcoming devices will be able to render wide-color imagery. Apple introduced the same feature first on the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Both the devices will be powered by the latest Apple A10 processor clocked at 2.4GHz which is a major boost when compared to Apple A9 chipset. It is built by TSMC using the integrated fan-out (InFO) wafer-level process. The 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will now include 3GB of RAM whereas the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 comes packed with 2GB of RAM.
Now in 2016, Apple finally dropped the 16GB as base variant and will launch both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with 32GB storage as based variant and will also be available in 128GB and 256GB storage variants. As we said earlier, the iPhone 7 Plus will feature dual rear camera setup with a wide-angle camera and a telephoto camera. Each sensor comes with 12MP resolution, and the main sensor will be equipped with OIS and 6P lens while the other sensor will be left out with just autofocus.
The company might also replace the dual tone LED flash with four LED’s for even more true tone flash for the low light captures. As seen with few Android devices, Apple will also bid adieu to the 3.5mm audio port and space will be replaced with a grill that looks similar to the speaker grill on the other side of the lightning port. But inside, it will feature a new sensor that is said to improve the Force Touch user experience. Instead of the 3.5mm EarPods, the company will be offering lightning port EarPods.
Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be certified by IPX7 which means both the devices are water and dust resistant and stay underwater upto 1 meter depth for 30 minutes. Apple will be introducing two new colors – dark black and piano black (glossy) and will stop the Space Grey variant. Even with a lot of innovative features, at least for the Apple users, KGI is expecting only 65 million units of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to be shipped by the end of 2016. This is much below the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus sales of 82 million units within the same period last year.
