Huawei P8 Lite Saves a Guy from a Bullet, Brand offers a New P9 Lite as Replacement
From the last few months, we have seen several smartphone explosions from brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus where the users even got hurt in few incidents. Now, a Huawei smartphone saved the life of its owner. Siraaj Abrahams, the 41 years old South African was returning home after a birthday party in his friend’s house in August. Just outside the gate of his house, few robbers shot him and run away with the R300 ($20) cash. He lost consciousness after the bullet hit him and while he waked up, all he had is a small mark on his chest and a hole to his jacket.
The bullet hit the Huawei P8 Lite which he placed in the chest pocket of his jacket. While the device is completely destroyed by the 9mm bullet, the company provided the latest P9 Lite smartphone as a replacement. Interestingly, the victim was thinking to leave the phone at his home as the battery is almost dead but later decided to charge at this friends house, so carried along with him.
Apart from providing a new smartphone, the Marketing Director for Huawei’s Sub-Saharan Africa region took Siraaj and his family to launch. Huawei also offered the free VIP entry to Siraaj for all the home matches of the Ajax Cape Town soccer team which is also sponsored by the company. This is not the first time we are hearing about a smartphone saving the life from a gunshot. A Samsung smartphone saved the life of its user in the 2015 Paris attacks.
Huawei which is largest smartphone brand in its home country is also the third largest brand in the global market. Apart from expanding to western markets, Huawei is also betting big in Africa. It is the third largest smartphone brand next to Samsung and Apple in Africa in 2015, and now, we expect the company to capture even larger pie with recently launched Huawei P9 and P9 Lite smartphones.
