Huawei P9 with Leica Branded Dual Rear Cameras now Available in Red & Blue Colors
At the IFA 2016, Huawei unveiled two new smartphones – Nova and Nova Plus. Along with that, the company launched the Huawei P9 and Huawei P9 Plus in Red and Blue colors. While the Huawei P9 is already launched here in India, the P9 Plus is expected to be made available soon. Both these smartphones come with Leica branded dual rear cameras along with laser autofocus and dual tone LED flash. Though there are many smartphones with dual camera setup, the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus are best smartphones to capture DSLR-like photos.
Earlier: Aug 17th, 2016 – As announced earlier, Huawei has launched its latest flagship smartphone Huawei P9 today in India. Huawei is the No.1 smartphone maker in China and stands at the No.3 position on the Global level. It was unveiled at the exclusive event held in London in early April this year. While the company unveiled both Huawei P9 and P9 Plus in London; in India, the company launched only Huawei P9. Apart from differences in screen size and battery capacity, the Huawei P9 lacks the pressure sensitive AMOLED panel which is present on the Huawei P9 Plus.
The device is priced at Rs. 39,999 and is sold online exclusively through Flipkart. It comes with an Aluminum built unibody design. The Huawei P9 sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the 2.5GHz Kirin 955 octa-core processor which is an upgraded version to Kirin 950. It comes with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and includes MicroSD card slot. There is a fingerprint sensor placed on the back of the device.
It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based highly customised EMUI 4.1. The USP of the device is its 12MP dual rear camera setup, while one is an RGB sensor the other is a monochrome sensor. Huawei has partnered with Leica for the camera of P9 and P9 Plus. The specially developed camera software merges the colors taken by the RGB sensor with the detail of the monochrome sensor. The dual cameras come with f/2.2 aperture, dual LED flash, and laser autofocus.
The Huawei P9 also supports manual mode in the camera app and gives RAW output. For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera though it is a fixed-focus sensor, whereas the P9 Plus comes with an 8MP autofocus front camera. Both the front and back cameras are limited to just Full HD (1080p) video recording. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery that is sealed behind the sturdy Aluminum body. According to the company, it can give 33 hours of talk time and lasts upto 566 hours on standby mode.
Huawei is also offering a premium after-sales service with the Huawei P9. The users of Huawei P9 can get an additional one year of manufacturer’s warranty on top of the basic one year warranty. The device also gets one free replacement for the accidental damage to the P9 display in the first three months. Huawei also promises to replace the device instead of servicing; the user can get a new device if there is any hardware related problem occurred in the first three months.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm audio port. It is single SIM device that accepts a nano SIM and the MicroSD card slot supports upto 128GB capacity. The device measures 145 x 70.9 x 6.95 mm and weighs 144 grams. It will be available in two colors – Prestige Gold & Titanium Grey.
