JioApps Individual Monthly Pricing with Benefits Jio 4G Subscribers get till 2017 end
Reliance Jio announced it’s One India plans in Mumbai at their Annual General Meeting held on Thursday. While it wasn’t cleared whether MNP would be available for JIO starting 5th, it has been cleared that users can indeed sign up for MNP and switch to JIO from their current mobile operator.
The company announced a total of ten announcements, which you can read in our featured story for the Reliance Jio launch. Among them was Prepaid plans as well as the revelation of Enterprise and Student plans. Though, what was left out was the Postpaid plans, which was later revealed by the company as they sent out a press release to media houses. Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of RJIL also announce that the eight Jio Premium apps that would be available for free access up until 31st December 2016. It is being touted as worth Rs 15,000 per year, which is quite a lot. Once this expires, you would have to pay for the monthly plans that would have a validity of 30 days, unlike prepaid tariffs that are valid for only 28 days.
Do make a note that Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers will be charged similar and would enjoy same benefits. There are a total of eight apps and out of that eight apps are chargeable while one app that is JioXPressNews would be available for free to use. Other apps include JioTV, JioCinema, JioMusic, JioMags, JioNewspaper, JioCloud and Jiosecurity.
Below we have listed the monthly charges and a brief description of the app individually.
JioTV – Rs 349/ month
This Jio app offers Live TV channels streaming on any internet enabled device using your JIO number. It offers free to air as well as paid channels. You can access more than 300 plus channels and search programmes from past seven days aired shows. Additionally, you can enjoy content in popular regional languages apart from Hindi. You can also share your favourite programmes in your social network. As well as set a reminder for your favourite shows. The apps are available for Android as well as iOS devices. Note that there are 30+ HD channels included in the list of 300+ channels.
JioCinema – Rs 199/ month
The Jio Cinema app allows users to download and stream video content from a wide range of titles. It is touted to have more than 1 lakh hours of HD content waiting to watch by subscribers. Users can also scroll and search across the program guide and content. Interestingly, Jio subscribers would have the option to queue downloads, which means no waiting for downloading a lot of movies at a time on top of the high-speed internet. The title contents include entertainment from Bollywood, Hollywood and various regional languages. You can also see latest trailers, music videos and back to back episodes to popular TV shows on this app.
JioMusic – Rs 99/ month
The Jio Music app is where Jio subscribers can enjoy a music experience never before. As company touts millions of HD songs in over 20 languages, music for every moment. Additionally, you can enjoy music seamless with connected devices support, ranging from wearable devices to Bluetooth speakers. There is a smart recommendation feature that recommends you the songs based on your music taste. Note that you can download the music for offline access as well as create playlists. The app has a Radio service as well which is said to provide endless music experience.
JioMags – Rs 199/ month
The Jio Mags is a service where users can read a vast collection of premium and widely popular magazines. It is said to cater the needs of the large spectrum, who are interested in readings. Users get unlimited readings for all of its titles, unlike Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited offer. With a single subscription, you can even read from archives in the library. Content available in all top Indian regional languages. You can filter by language and mark your favourite magazines. Highlight underline and bookmark while reading in JioMag app. Additionally, you can view videos, presentations and podcasts available along the articles.
JioNewspaper – Rs 99/ month
Offering news in ePaper format, the JioNewspaper app would be providing customised news experience with a combination of languages, categories and publications sections. With this app, Jio subscribers can stay up to date with the latest newspaper content published online by many media houses. All this on a single application. It is a paid subscription because of the accessibility of paid online content from different newspapers.
JioXpressNews – Rs 0/ month
While there is a separate app for reading the newspaper on the go using JioNewspaper app, the company has released an XPressNews app that offer the latest news curated from hundred plus source such as magazines and blogs. Again, you can have incredible news reading experience on this app with a combination of languages, categories and publication section. Note that there are no charges for this service, it a free to access the content application.
JioCloud – Starting at Rs 50/ month
With India going digital, Jio users would require a secure place to store their digital contents. Jio Cloud offers its subscribers a cloud storage solution that makes sharing between the devices seamless. The sync and storage facilities are said to be top notch in the class. It is a multi-platform sharing service accessible from a range of devices. Users get up to 5GB of usage for free while the charges start for usage above that. Up to 50GB storage, you have to pay Rs 50/month, while 200GB storage would cost you Rs 150/month and 1TB storage would fetch you Rs 500/month.
JioSecurity – Rs 299/ month
With JioSecurity app subscription users would be protected against unwanted websites and apps. It offers services such as blocking of unwanted calls and text messages. It is also given an additional feature to locate a lost/stolen phone. The subscriber is also given an additional security features such as wiping data when you have removed the SIM. It is quite helpful in wiping the data from your lost phone.

So, these are the Jio Apps that Jio Subscribers can download and install on their Jio SIM enabled handsets once they sign up for Jio Welcome Offer. Then, they can enjoy premium access to these services for free up until 31st December 2016. Note that users who have purchased a LYF handset can enjoy free access up until December 2017, which is more than a year’s free access.
