Samsung reportedly ready to Pay 3x to get back the Galaxy Note 7 from First Indian Customer
In a very confusing incident, we have been told from multiple sources that Samsung India is trying to get back a Phone that their authorised retailer had sold to his customer. Samsung India had announced that the deliveries of their phones would begin from 2nd September that were later delayed to 12th September. Let’s look into this story on what has actually happened.
To begin this story a Customer from Hyderabad had purchased the Galaxy Note 7 at the Big Bazaar’s eZone where he had paid Rs 59,900 for the device that was hand delivered to him on 29th itself. This is quite earlier than the first speculated date which is 2nd September & probably the authorised retailer had goofed up. Following the purchase, in the same week, we had seen an Note 7 explosion in China, followed by another explosion that also happened while charging. According to the information sent to us, that is yet to be verified Samsung India is offering him upto Rs 1,50,000 in order to return the phone to them. In a similar note, devices in south korea were also stopped before being shipped to the pre-orders that had recently been confirmed by Samsung.
To back this statement, you can refer to the featured Image above that shows the Indian Pricing along with the manufacturing information that mentions “Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd” New Delhi. The MRP of the device is mentioned at Rs 65,000 for the SM-N930F Model that is specifically the Indian Retail unit. We also have a copy of the Bill that includes this mentioned customers details which is the reason it’s not published here proving that the device was billed on August 29th itself. What’s confusing is that when Samsung has been silent about the stocks & the offline retailers not given any information on the delivery dates, how did this electronic chain get its hand on the unit & also sell it without Samsung’s confirmation.
Even if that’s a genuine mistake by the store, the bigger question is why Samsung wants the unit back? Is it because they suspect that the delivered phone could also explode? or Will these problems with the Note 7 lead to more delays in India?. This is something we would like to know from Samsung India whom we have contacted for a statement.
