Sony Xperia XZ & X Compact with 3GB RAM & 23MP Camera Launched at IFA 2016
After the several leaks and rumours, Sony has officially launched the flagship Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact smartphones at the IFA 2016. Both the devices look similar from the front with dual front facing speakers. The Xperia XZ is built out of a new trademarked Aluminum material called ALKALEIDO. The Xperia XZ will be the successor to Xperia X which was launched at MWC 2016. Both the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact are water and dust resistant.
It sports a 5.2-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution with Gorilla Glass protection on top. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded additionally upto 200GB. The Xperia XZ also comes in dual SIMvariant with 64GB of internal storage. On the other hand, for whose love a smaller display, Sony launched Xperia X Compact with 4.6-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display. Under the hood, the Xperia X Compact sports Snapdragon 650 hexa-core SoC and includes the same 3GB RAM and 32GB storage as on Xperia XZ.
Both the devices come with the new 23MP IMX300 sensor and includes Triple Sensing Autofocus that come with PDAF, color detection and laser autofocus. Though the devices miss the OIS, there is SteadyShot Intelligent Active Mode using the 5-axis. It can correct not only the angle and roll but also the shift shakes with the rear camera. The Xperia XR has a 13MP selfie camera on the front while the Xperia X Compact is only limited to 5MP resolution. Now Sony is also offering manual controls in the camera app.
The Xperia XR is backed by a 2,900mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0, whereas the Xperia X Compact packs 2700mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support. The power button on the right edge comes integrated with the fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include Cat4 LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, and USB Type-C port. The Xperia XZ measures 8.1mm thickness and weighs 161 grams, and the Xperia X Compact measures 9.5mm and weighs 135 grams.
