Xiaomi Mi 5s to feature Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner

Xiaomi Mi 5s

Xiaomi has been experimenting a lot with their smartphones lately with some new technologies. For the first time, they launched a dual camera with the Redmi Pro, which worked out pretty well. So now we can expect more devices with the same camera technology from the company. Even the upcoming alleged Mi 5s is expected to rock a similar camera. Well, talking about the Mi 5s, we have some more reports which show some interesting new features to go on this device.

Remember Qualcomm’s Sense ID 3D fingerprint technology? It first debuted in the market with the Le Max Pro. Unlike the capacitive fingerprint technology, this one has more advanced security features. The best part about these sensors are, they have an ability to operate through thin materials such as glass, aluminium or plastic as they use ultrasonic sound.  Well, it looks like the upcoming Mi 5s is going to come with the Qualcomm’s Sense ID 3D fingerprint scanner. It will quite interesting to see how it will be implemented here though.

It is reported that the Mi 5s will not have a physical home button, instead, it will have a capacitive button just like the one found in Mi Max. This will essentially be the differentiating factor between the current Mi 5 and this upcoming Mi 5s. So this is definitely something to be on a look out for. And it is also expected that the next year’s Apple iPhone 8 will also come with this kind of a fingerprint scanner, as the company have already removed the physical home button from the iPhone 7 & 7 Plus and placed a capacitive one with haptic feedback.

Well, there’s a lot to looks forward in the future then. As far as the specs are concerned, the Mi 5s is expected to come with a 5.15″ FHD display on the front. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 821 SoC and is also rumoured to come with 6GB of RAM and dual rear camera as well. So now we just have to wait until we get a confirmation on all this from the company. Stay tuned for more details.
