Android 7.0 Nougat Update could add Pixel-like Fingerprint scanner gestures to Galaxy Devices

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Android 7.0 Nougat is the next update due for the Galaxy Devices now. Currently, the Galaxy Beta program is underway and it looks like things are all going smooth on Samsung‘s end. If you are a part of the beta program, then you already know that the company’s software division is taking suggestions and feedbacks from the testers to make things better and the way users want. If you are a part of the beta program then even you can send in your suggestions and feedback to them so that they can make their product better. On the same lines, the reply that a tester received from Samsung indicates that more new features are heading to Galaxy devices in the future.

According to the reports, a beta tester suggested that the fingerprint scanner should similarly to the way how it works with the Pixel devices. The software on the Pixel and the XL allows you to swipe up or down to pull down or up the notification shade. To this, Samsung replied stating that they are working on improving the features of the Fingerprint scanner. Looking at this, it looks like the company will indeed add some neat features to the fingerprint scanner in future, but we are not sure as to what features will make their way. It will be a great addition though if they bring this feature to the Galaxy devices as it is really convenient to use the device that way.

It is expected that Samsung will try to implement this in their testing and maybe if it works out, then we can see this feature making its way to the final version of the software later when it comes out. As of now, apart from the Pixel devices, Huawei also allows users to swipe on their fingerprint scanner to pull down the notification shade. However, if you want this feature to work in other devices, there are a lot of third-party apps which can make it happen. You can check out the app called ‘Fingerprint Quick Action’ which also allows you to assign this gesture. Not just this gesture, there are other gestures as well which you can assign like tapping on the scanner will put your device to sleep, etc.

With that, we have no confirmation on the date for the final rollout of the update. It is expected that few of the Galaxy Devices like the Galaxy S7 and the Edge variant, etc will be getting them by early next year. Also, the upcoming devices like the Galaxy S8, etc from the company will come with the latest version pre-installed, so it is highly possible that we will be able to see all these new features at that time. Meanwhile, let us know what do you think about this update and stay tuned to PhoneRadar for such info on this.
