After months of rumors and leaks, Lenovo’s ZUK Edge smartphone is finally launched today in China. The device is said to come with a bezel-less display just like the Xiaomi Mi MIX. But in reality, the device came with little bezels on the left and right edges of the display. However, the device comes with an 86.4% screen-to-body ratio which is slightly lower than the Mi MIX’s 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. On the design front, the ZUK Edge looks similar to the earlier launched ZUK Z2 Pro with the metal body and glass body. It comes in Ceramic White and Titanium Crystal Black color options.
The ZUK Edge comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by 14nm Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. The device comes with 4GB and 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM variants with 64GB of UFS 2.0 internal storage. As seen with other ZUK smartphones, there is no MicroSD card slot on this device as well. It sports a U-Touch home button featuring ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that sits invisibly behind the front glass same as the Xiaomi Mi 5S. The company claims this sensor to unlock the device in just 0.09 seconds and also supports AliPay mobile payment service.
It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 3CA aggregation which can offer 600Mbps download speeds. There is a 13MP ISOCELL sensor with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, and 5P lens. It can even record slo-mo video at 960fps and sports manual mode for professional level captures. On the front, there is an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture. The device is powered by a 3,100mAh non-removable battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 support. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with customized ZUI laid on top. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio port, and USB Type-C 3.1 port.
Just like ZUK Z2 Pro, the ZUK Edge sports a bunch of health sensors including heart rate and UV light sensor. It sports a Dirac HD sound amplifier which offers Hi-Fi audio output. It measures 142.9 x 74.5 x 7.68 mm and weighs 160 grams. The device is priced at 2299 Yuan (approx $330 / Rs. 22,500) for the 4GB RAM variant and 2499 Yuan (approx $360 / Rs. 24,500) for the 6GB RAM variant. The registrations for sale started today and goes on sale from January 1st. ZUK also announced the Android 7.0 Nougat based OTA update to be released in early 2017.
