Super Mario Run becomes the biggest App Store launch ever with 2.85 million downloads on first day

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Super Mario Run is the latest obsession for people after Pokemon Go. With over 2.85 million downloads on the first day of the launch, the Super Mario Run becomes the biggest App Store launch ever. This is a huge number, and the Pokemon Go is nowhere near this number. This game got three times more downloads than the Pokemon Go, at its launch. According to App analytics firm Apptopia, Nintendo’s Super Mario Run is on its way to breaking Pokemon Go’s record for most first-week downloads on the App Store. Well, it looks like Nintendo is having a great time entering the Mobile game business.

Talking about the Nintendo’s games, the Pokemon Go which launched a couple of months back, got about 900,000 downloads on day one. Even that number is not bad at all considering the fact most games struggle to get that number in a lifetime. But in comparison to the Super Mario Run, we must say that we have a clear winner over here. Do make a note that the Pokemon Go was launched only in select countries on day one in comparison to the Super Mario Run which made its way to over 150 countries on the launch day. Hence this is also one of the factors that you need to consider while talking about the total download numbers.

On the flip side, if you don’t know what Super Mario Run is (which you should be totally knowing), it is a mobile version of the Extremely popular Super Mario game. This is the first Super Mario game to ever make its way into smartphones officially. Before this, there was no official game for Super Mario for the mobile platform. This by itself is one of the huge reason behind its peaking download figures. The game is free to download from the App Store, and you can play the first three stages for free. To proceed further, you need to pay Rs. 620 and unlock rest of the game.

Although the game only has 24 standard stages, we may or may not see an update which brings some additional features that add some value to it. With that said, the game by itself is a lot of fun, and you certainly won’t feel your money being wasted. Rumor has it that Nintendo’s next couple of games are also going to be based around the around the Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem franchise. However, it looks like a lot of people are requesting for the Legend of Zelda on the mobile platform. Well, if you are not into Mario games or you don’t want to pay any money for a game, Pokemon Go just launched in India a couple of days back. Be sure to let us know which game are you playing right now and why. Also, stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more details on these games and more.
