Samsung is borrowing the Display tech from Note 7 for the upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Samsung Galaxy s8 smartphone is just a couple of months away now and the as we get closer to the launch of this new device, we keep getting more info about the device. Yesterday we saw that the company is planning to launch two variants, and both of them will be having curved-edge displays only. And now according to the new reports that we have today, Samsung is apparently borrowing the display tech from the Note 7 Phablet to use in the Galaxy S8. It has been reported that the company is planning to use the same space saving display packing technology that we saw with the Note 7 smartphone.

This technology is called the Y-Octa, and these displays have their touch sensors integrated into the panel itself. Usually, with other smartphones, these sensors are layered like a thin film under the cover glass, but with the use of the new display technology, the overall controller size is also reduced. Do make a note here that we are not talking about saving a lot of space altogether, however, given the fact that even slightest of difference matters these days, this could be a huge deal for the company as well the overall user experience.

Talking about the display technology in the Note 7 phablet, the company implemented a lot of other new stuff as well like the HDR10-complaint display, etc. Well, we are not sure if Samsung will equip all those tech in the Galaxy S8, but if does, then can assure you that we all are in for a treat here. The HDR10-complaint display can cover the DCI-P3 gamut and the Galaxy Note 7 is world’s first smartphone to come with that tech. So indeed it is a huge deal, and we are certain that the company will borrow that as well. And considering the fact that there will be more HDR content to consume in the future, we might as well have a future-proof smartphone rather than having to complain later on.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 appears to be the most ambitious smartphone from the South Korean smartphone manufacturer, and we hope all the rumors and speculations that we building the hype, comes true. Given the fact that it happens, it will be a huge step in the right direction. If you didn’t know already, the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone is expected to launch in the month of February at the Unpacked event which is planned for 26th of that month. Judging by the rumors, this smartphone will pack some serious power along with the great looks. We are looking at a radical design change altogether and are just hoping that they don’t end up exploding out in the wild. Stay tuned to PhoneRadar for info on this smartphone as we will update once we have more details.
