Apple finally set to Make iPhones in India at Bengaluru by April End

Soon, we will have Apple iPhones made in a Bengaluru factory. Yesterday, Karnataka government issued a press release regarding Apple’s plan of making iPhones in India. According to release, state government welcomed the company’s move, making India third country worldwide to have an iPhone assembly plant. Karnataka state IT minister Priyank Kharge signed the press release. It also shows the importance of India in Apple’s plan. Apple is one of the most valued companies in the world.
“Apple’s intentions to manufacture in Bengaluru will foster cutting edge technology ecosystem and supply chain development in the state, which are critical for India to compete globally. The Government of Karnataka is committed to new initiatives in any sector for manufacturing and will provide a conducive environment for investment,” according to the statement.
Apple proposed to open a factory in Bengaluru. Now Karnataka government’s welcome note will fasten the process, and Apple will start making iPhones in India as well. The company will only perform initial manufacturing operations in the country. Although, no timeline has been finalized yet about it. Production is expected to start in April this year. For India, Wistron a Taiwanese company will make iPhones. Wistron makes original equipment for Apple as well.
Apple already finalized a factory location in Bengaluru. But the confirmation still awaiting from company side. Apple’s senior executives like Vice President of iPhone operations Priya Balasubramaniam, iPhone Operations Director Dheeraj Chugh and company’s senior manager of government affairs (India and the Middle East)Ali Khanafer already met various government officials from center and state.
Telangana, Maharashtra and Gujarat governments were also competing with Karnataka for the Apple factory. Kharge said,” We made concerted efforts to reach out to Apple directly. We want to create a conducive environment for global majors like Apple”. Apple CEO Tim Cook already made a visit to India last year and met various government officials including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apple’s move of ‘Made in India’ will be helpful for iPhone lovers in the country. It will bring down the price of iPhones in India. Not only that new iPhones will be made available in the country as soon as it launched. Recently, Apple also argued government release some norms of 30 percent.
