You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
In December last year, a new mid-range smartphone called Gionee F5 is spotted on TENAA. Today, the company has officially unveiled it in China and is priced at 1799 Yuan (approx $262 / Rs. 17,600). It comes in Gold and Rose Gold color options and the company is also few freebies like selfie stick and USB light. As seen with the Vivo and OPPO smartphones, Gionee is also offering a 720p display at such a high price. Apart from the lower resolution display, other specifications seem decent. It comes with an all-metal unibody design as seen on the TENAA listing. The curved edges on the rear and the 2.5D glass on the front might make the device slippery.
The Gionee F5 sports a 5.3-inch display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and 2.5D glass on the top. Under the hood is the 64-bit MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor and includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. With 4GB RAM, the device can handle most of the games and apps without any lags. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion additionally upto 128GB. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery that can give 9 hours of talk time and 28 hours of music playback. However, the device lacks fast charging but packs a 5V/2A power adapter. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Amigo UI which looks totally different from stock Android UI.
The device also packs a lot of bloatware apps which further eats up the available storage. In the camera department, there is a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE for faster data speeds. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3.5mm Audio port, and MicroUSB 2.0. The sensors included in the device are Gyro, Light Sensor, Gravity Sensor, Distance Sensing, and Compass. On the right edge of the device are the volume rocker and power button, while on the left edge is the hybrid SIM card slot. The loudspeaker is placed on the bottom of the device and comes with DTS sound output.
The fingerprint sensor is embedded into the physical home button on the front. Gionee also says the device to support both mobile payments services from WeChat and AliPay. It measures 150 x 74.5 x 7.7 mm and weighs 162 grams. The side-by-side multitasking which we have seen on the latest Android Nougat is also offered by Gionee with its custom Amigo UI. It is also fully encrypted for making the calls, payments, and data secure. The device is already on sale in China, and there is no information about the availability of this device in the other markets. In India, the company is soon to launch the Gionee P8W and Gionee P8 Max smartphone. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
