HTC Launches U Play Smartphone with 16MP Front & Rear Cameras at Rs. 39,990

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Alongside the premium U Ultra smartphone, HTC also launched the U Play smartphone in India. From the last few weeks, the company is teasing only the launch of U Ultra, and now the U Play comes as a surprise. The HTC U Play also sports the liquid surface body and gives a highly reflective nature to the glossy body. It runs on the Android 7.0 Nougat based latest Sense UI out of the box. Unlike the U Ultra, the U Play comes with mid-range specifications. While the U Ultra is priced at Rs. 59,990, the U Play costs Rs. 39,990.

At this price, the device comes with year’s old MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core SoC. Almost all the recently launched Chinese smartphones priced at Rs. 10,000 came with better processors than the Helio P10 SoC. Talking about the other specifications, the HTC U Play comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display and has a Gorilla Glass protection on the top. The Helio P10 SoC is accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card option for further expansion of storage. The HTC’s own digital assistant, Sense Companion will be also available on this device.

On the rear of the device is a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture, OIS, PDAF, and dual tone LED flash. However, it can’t record videos in 4K resolution as the Helio P10 is only limited to Full HD video recording. The front camera is also equipped with a 16MP sensor with fixed focus and has the same f/2.0 aperture. It is backed by a 2,500mAh battery that supports fast charging with the 5V /2A power adapter. HTC claims the U Play to give 15 hours of talk time and lasts upto 427 hours on standby mode.

The physical home button on the front comes embedded with the fingerprint sensor. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE for making HD voice calls. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and USB 2.0 Type-C port.
