Huawei to Launch Honor V9 as Honor 8 Pro For International Markets

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Earlier this month, Huawei’s sub-brand, Honor confirmed the launch date of Honor V9 in China to be February 21st. We already got the first look along with complete list of specifications with the TENAA listing fo the device. Now, the latest reports suggest the Honor V9 to launch as Honor 8 Pro in the international markets. Since the Honor V9 will be launched ahead of Mobile World Congress, we expect the Honor 8 Pro to be unveiled at the MWC event. The company has already launched the Honor 8, Honor 8 Smart, and Honor 8 Lite smartphones.

Unlike the Honor 8, the Honor 8 Pro will come with an all-metal body with curved edges. The device will be running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.0 out of the box. It comes with a 5.7-inch display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels). Under the hood, the device might come with Kirin 960 octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz. While the TENAA listing mentioned the Honor V9 (a.k.a Honor 8 Pro) to feature 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, we might also see other RAM and storage options as well. The user can further expand the storage up to 128GB using the MicroSD card slot.

Coming to the camera department, the Honor 8 Pro will be continuing with the same 12MP + 12MP dual rear camera sensors as seen on the Honor 8. For selfies, there is an 8MP camera on the front. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE connectivity which is missing on the Honor 8 smartphone. The device also sports a circular fingerprint on the back fo the device. The leaked images of the upcoming Huawei P10 and P10 Plus smartphones suggest the front facing fingerprint sensor. From today, Honor India announced a 20% price cut on the Honor 8 Smart.

The Honor 6X which was launched last month in India is giving stiff competition to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Coolpad Cool1 smartphones. It comes in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants priced at Rs. 12,999 and Rs. 14,999 respectively. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by Kirin 655 octa-core processor. It comes with a 12MP + 2MP dual rear cameras which capture decent images. Unlike the high-end Honor smartphones, both the rear camera sensors on Honor 6X captures in RGB. There is an 8MP selfie camera on the front.

While OPPO has overtaken Huawei as the largest smartphone brand in China in last quarter, on a global scale, it comfortable stays at the third position. The company also aims to become the largest global smartphone manufacturer in the next five years. With very less opportunity from the already saturated Chinese market, Huawei’s goal of becoming number one player in the global smartphone market will mainly depend on the success of its devices in the developing nations like Indian and Brazil. Along with the Honor 8 Pro, the company is also expected to launch the Huawei P10 and P10 smartphones at the MWC 2017 event.

Stay tuned on Phone Radar as the Huawei’s MWC press conference is just 10 days away.
