Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Rumored to Feature Snapdragon 660 SoC & 6GB RAM

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Xiaomi launched its first phablet, Mi Max with a huge 6.44-inch display in 2016. While the company is rumored to launch its successor Mi Max 2 later this year, now, we got some information regarding the device specifications and launch date. Just like its predecessor, the Mi Max 2 also sports a 6.44-inch display, but the resolution of it is unknown. It is said to launch in China in the month of May, but the exact launch date is not mentioned. The device will be coming with a metal built unibody design. While the Mi Max came with very small bezels, we hope the Mi Max 2 will be even smaller in size for the same 6.44-inch display.

Under the hood, the device will be powered by the yet to be announced Snapdragon 660 (MSM8956 Plus) octa-core processor. Earlier there are also rumors quoting the Redmi Pro 2 with the dual-lens camera to feature the same Snapdragon 660 processor. The Mi Max will also include 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. However, there will also be a 4GB RAM variant with different storage options. We also expect it to feature MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. The device will be backed by a huge 5,000mAh non-removable battery along with fast charging support.

While the Mi Max came with a rear-facing fingerprint sensor, the upcoming Mi Max 2 might come with a front facing physical home button integrated with the fingerprint sensor. Since there is no confirmation of the above mentioned details, take them with a pinch of salt. The last year launched Mi Max came with a 6.44-inch Full HD Display and is one of the best-selling phablets on Amazon India. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the MIUI 8 out of the box. The 3GB RAM variant of the Mi Max is powered by Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor while the 4GB RAM variant came with Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor.

As it came with a hybrid SIM slot, the user can expand the storage up to additional 256GB leaving out the secondary SIM. In the camera department, there is a 16MP rear camera with PDAF and dual tone LED flash. For selfies, the Mi Max features a 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. The 4,850mAh battery on this device also gives a long lasting battery life. The Mi Max with 4GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage is currently retailing at Rs. 19,999. Next week, the company will also announce its own processor joining the league of Huawei, Apple, Samsung. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details about the upcoming Xiaomi products!
