ZTE’s New 4G Phone Lacks Internet Connectivity & Cameras
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
In September last year, a new ZTE mobile phone with the model number S3003 is listed on TENAA. Though it comes with entry-level specifications, the lack of cameras on this device made it interesting. Now, the ZTE S3003 is launched in China for just 399 Yuan (approx $58 / Rs. 3,900) and comes in Gold colored metal finish plastic body. The device is mentioned to come with the customized UI and includes a dialer, contacts, SMS, Settings, Clock, and Calendar apps. On the rear of the device, we can find only the ZTE logo. The loudspeaker is placed on the left edge of the device.
Earlier, Blackberry launched a special variant of the Classic QWERTY smartphone that lacks the camera. It is then a good alternative for those who can’t use camera phones at their offices. Now, the ZTE S3003 has not only left out cameras, but also the internet connectivity. Though it comes with 4G LTE support, it can be used only for making calls and SMS. Apart from working people who can’t use a smartphone in their office, ZTE is also targeting the senior citizens who want to shift from a feature phone to touchscreen phone. It comes with bigger icons and simple to use interface.
On the bottom of the device are the three on-screen navigation buttons. It sports a 5-inch display on the front with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the ZTE S3003 comes powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor coupled with Mali-T720 GPU. It also packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Since the device also skips the video and music players, we don’t know the purpose of the internal storage. The power button is on the right edge, whereas the volume rocker along with SIM card is placed on the left edge of the device. ZTE has made the device encrypted to make the calls and SMS secure.
With all these restrictions, we don’t think the device even comes with Bluetooth and GPS. The ZTE S3003 measures just 7.4mm thickness and weighs 117 grams. The device will not come out of China and even in China; we don’t think the company will be making huge sales. In case, if you find a good way to use this device, lets us know by commenting below. At the upcoming Mobile World Congress event, ZTE will be launching the Android Wear 2.0 powered smartwatch and the world’s first Gigabit smartphone. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
