Xiaomi Sued in China for Selling Redmi Note 2 with False Information

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

Xiaomi is once again dragged to court for misleading the customers in China. Interestingly, the device in question is the two years old Redmi Note 2. This isn’t the first time Xiaomi was sued by its users at least in China; earlier it was sued for listing the Mi 5S Plus with false information over the NFC Support. Even the company once probed for issuing misleading ads thus violating the Chinese Advertising Law. Talking about today’s case, it was filed by one of its consumers named Wang in the Haidian District Court. According to Wang, he had purchased the Redmi Note 2 smartphone from the official website with complete trust on Xiaomi.

However, he noticed few differences in the specifications of the device that was delivered to him and the information mentioned in the Xiaomi’s official website and also on the launch stage. At the time of launch, the company is said to mention that the 13MP rear camera sensor on the Redmi Note 2 will be supplied by Samsung, whereas the display panels will come from Sharp or AUO. But the device delivered to Wang featured the primary camera sensor from Shenzhen-based Oufei optical technology company. Instead of the Sharp or AUO display panel, his Redmi Note 2 came with a display panel from Tianma Micro-electronics Co.

As of now, the case in under investigation and the verdict can be expected soon. Though there is no clear information, the consumer might be asking for three times the price of the device as compensation as his smartphone came with different specifications. In the next few days, Xiaomi will be unveiling its own processor named Pinecone. The first Pinecone processor will be coming with eight Cortex-A53 cores and is rumored to be as powerful as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 and MediaTek’s Helio P10 processors. Coming to the Redmi Note 2 court case, we will be updating the story with more information once the final verdict comes out. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
