Google Is Reportedly Working On Always-On Mode For Ambient Display
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Google launched the Pixel and the Pixel XL smartphones last year. Both the smartphones were exceptionally great and in fact, even today, both the smartphones are doing well in the market despite other competitions. And now, apparently, the company is working making the device even better by introducing a new feature.
According to the new reports which we have, it looks like Google working on an update to push a new feature to the Google Pixel smartphones. An APK breakdown by the folks over at XDA developers suggests that Google might be working in an always-on mode for Ambient Display. This would a be an addition to the Pixel smartphone as this is one of the features is also available on few other flagships. Currently, the Google Pixel smartphones have an ambient display which flashes your notification and time as you take out the smartphone from your pocket, etc. However, an always-on display would be so much better.
Google is now reportedly working on the same and the code for that also have been spotted. An Android O running Google Pixel smartphone was used to decompile its SystemUIGoogle.apk. This is where a string of code was found hinting an always-on display.
According to the source, “doze” refers to Ambient Display, which is often confused with the new doze feature that was introduced with Android Marshmallow. However, although the code indicates this feature, we may or may not see this feature being rolled out along with Android O. It looks like Google is letting us test this out right now and it is highly possible that they might pull it off from the final build and bring it back later in some other build. It is also possible that they might bring it with a future version of Android.
Having said that, Google pixel smartphone is still one of the best devices out there in the market which you can buy. It offers some really great specs for the price and above all, it is running stock Android which is what most users want out of the box. Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this.
