The ZTE-backed Nubia has launched a new entry-level smartphone in India dubbed Nubia M2 Play. The device was first launched in China in June this year. It comes with a price tag of Rs. 8,999 and is sold exclusively through Amazon India. On the design front, the Nubia M2 Play with its metal body and the 2.5D curved display looks similar to the earlier launched Nubia M2 Lite. While the Nubia M2 Lite came with a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset, the M2 Play is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor.
It also supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE connectivity on one of the two SIMs. There is also a circular fingerprint sensor placed on the rear of the device. The new M2 Play runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with the heavily customised Nubia UI laid on top. Nubia has recently launched the Nubia Z17 with 8GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage for 3199 Yuan. The company also mentioned it to be most affordable 8GB RAM smartphone in the world.
Earlier: June 20th, 2017 – ZTE has launched a bunch of smartphones under the Nubia M2 series. Now adding on to the list, we have yet another offering which is the Nubia M2 Play. This is the newest offering from the company which sports a decent set of specs for the price. This sit right between the high-end Nubia models and the Nubia M2 Lite which was launched earlier, giving users a bunch of options to choose from.
The Nubia M2 Play sports a 5.5″ HD display on the front, which means it has a resolution of 1280 x 720. This is certainly not the most pixel-dense display but you can’t complain at this price. However, the best part about it is that it is running on Android 7.0 Nougat based Nubia UI 5.0 skin. Internally, it is powered by an octa-core (4×1.4GHz and 4×1.1GHz) Snapdragon 435 SoC. This is coupled with 3GB of RAM and it also has 32GB of internal storage as well. You can further expand this storage via a microSD card upto 128GB as well for adding more files, media, etc.
In terms of the camera, we are looking at a 13MP Sony CMOS sensor at the back which has a f/2.2 aperture. On the front, we have a 5MP selfie shooter with a f/2.4 aperture. The entire package is kept powered by a 3,000 mAh battery and the connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, GPS, and GLONASS.
To give some perspective, the Nubia M2 Lite sports the same display. But it is powered by a slightly less powerful Helio P10 processor. At the time of the launch, it was running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow which has been upgraded here with the Nubia M2 Play. So overall, the Nubia M2 Play is not a major departure, but if you want more power then the Nubia M2 Play is the one to go for.
