You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

The U.S based consumer electronics brand, InFocus has launched quite a few decent smartphones in the Indian market. The InFocus Bingo 20 is one of the very few smartphones under Rs. 5,000 to come with 4G LTE connectivity at that time. Now the company is bringing a new smartphone that might not be much useful for the common user, but it helps businesses and Governments for speeding up the biometric verification process. Unlike the dedicated machines, the regular smartphone can do the similar verification process without any error and will also be easy to carry and maintain.

According to the company, the device is also certified by the Government of India’s Standardization Testing & Quality Certification (STQC) for using it for Aadhaar based biometric verifications. It comes with built-in IRIS sensor that can distinguish the retina blood vessels from person to person. The device is also said to be the most reliable and accurate biometric device tested by STQC till date and also came out with zero False Reject Rate (FRR). While the company mentioned the IRIS scanning to work without any issue under the direct sunlight, we are skeptical about the function in low light conditions.

The company also mentioned the device to come with K7 generation algorithm that can avoid any errors while capturing images. The total process including the image capture and K7 image generation can be completed in less than 2 seconds. It can be a good alternative for other biometric devices that are currently in Government offices and public sector companies including banks. Coming to the specifications part, we won’t find any flagship specifications, but comes with decent specs that require for seamless usage. It supports 4G VoLTE making it usable with the new Jio 4G SIM.

It sports a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) display and is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. There will be 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage that can be further expanded with the MicroSD card slot. However, the device still runs on years old Android 5.1 Lollipop based customized OS. It is backed by a 2,300mAh battery that might not last more than a day of usage. There are similar specifications we have seen on the earlier launched Bingo 20 and Bingo 21 smartphones. While the Bingo 20 comes with 1GB of RAM, the Bingo 21 features 2GB of RAM. Rest of the specifications are same on both the devices.

The upcoming IRIS smartphone will be featuring the sensor from IriTech which had earlier mentioned to be in talks with other manufacturers like Intex, LYF, Lava, and Micromax. A few months back, Intex also said to be in talks with UIDAI for launching smartphone featuring Active IRIS scanner, but there is no update till date from the company. Even though InFocus is an American brand, its smartphones in India are completely manufactured by Foxconn. Apart from smartphones, the company also sells feature phones, LED TVs, and Laptops.
