You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

ZUK Edge from Lenova has already leaked a number of times online and now the company has officially confirmed that the smartphone will be launched on 20th December at an event scheduled in China. Last month we have seen live images of the ZUK Edge surfacing which also revealed the narrow bezels which was also shared by the CEO of ZUK.

There is an interesting feature called the invisible U-Touch fingerprint sensor just below the display what could be an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The ZUK Edge will be coming with a 5.5-inch FHD display with a 2.5D curved glass on top and will be sporting Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor with a clocking speed of 2.35 GHz, coupled with Adreno 530 GPU.

There is a 13MP rear facing camera with LED flash accompanied with 8MP front facing camera. Out of the box, the handset will be coming with Android 7.0 Nougat with ZEN UI on top. The device will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variant with 32GB and 64GB internal storage options. There is a 3000mAh battery on the back to power the device that comes with quick charge 3.0.

Earlier this month, a new smartphone with the model number Z2151 is listed on TENAA from Lenovo’s sub-brand ZUK. Later the Antutu listing confirmed the device to be the rumored ZUK Edge. Now, ZUK’s CEO and former VP of Lenovo, Chang Cheng confirmed through his recent Weibo post that the ZUK Edge will be officially launched next week in China. From the image he has posted, the device package includes the device itself along with paperwork, power adapter, USB cable and a back case with a leather finish. Xiaomi offered a premium looking complete leather back case with its edgeless smartphone, Mi MIX.

From the image, we can see the large home button on the front that will also feature a fingerprint sensor. The power button and the volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. On the black cardboard box, we can see the device name ‘ZUK Edge’ and on the front edge it says ‘Designed by Lenovo.’ It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with a 2.5D glass on top. Under the hood, the ZUK Edge uses the Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. Recently, Qualcomm announced the new Snapdragon 835 SoC that will be manufactured using Samsung’s 10nm FinFET process.

It comes in two variants with 4GB and 6GB RAM and will be available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options. The device will also run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the ZUI 2.5 laid on top. Instead of a completely different brand, Lenovo launched the ZUK as a separate series under the Lenovo brand. Even the ZUK Z2 Plus launched in India came with Vibe UI with Google Launcher as the default option. In the camera department, there will be 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The device measures 142.9 x 74.5 x 7.68 mm and weigh 160 grams.

The health sensors that are introduced with the Lenovo Z2 Pro smartphone might be available on this upcoming device as well. While the ZUK Edge will be officially launched next week in China, there is no news about the availability of the same device in India. A few months back, Lenovo has launched the ZUK Z2 smartphone as the Z2 Plus in India. It comes in two variants with 3GB and 4GB RAM options with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage. Both the variants come with 5-inch Full HD display and are powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC. It has a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and a fingerprint sensor integrated into the physical home button on the front.

The device comes with pre-installed Google Now Launcher UI while the settings UI looks similar to Vibe UI. In India, the company is selling the Z2 Plus exclusively on Amazon India for Rs. 17,999 and Rs. 19,999 for the 3GB and 4GB RAM variants respectively. The 3GB RAM variant of the ZUK Z2 Plus along with LeEco Le Max 2 are now the most affordable Snapdragon 820 powered smartphones in the Indian market.
