After Lenovo acquisition of Motorola, we have serious changes in terms of Moto devices. The major change is the design of the recently launched devices which more like Vibe series smartphones. Now, we even get the several bloatware apps including the Microsoft and Facebook apps. This year, we also missed the Moto X smartphones. Earlier rumors suggested the company to replace the Moto X with the new Moto Z series. However, the company confirmed the Moto Z is a completely new series that offers semi-modular features.
After skipping 2016, the Moto X might be coming back in 2017, and today, we also got a couple of images which are alleged to be of Moto X 2017. Last year, the company launched the Moto X Play, Moto X Style, and Moto X Force smartphones. With the Moto X 2017 devices, the company is offering an all metal along with large bezels on top and bottom of the display. From the front, the device looks similar to the recently launched Moto M, though the Moto X 2017 additionally comes with a front facing fingerprint sensor. Looking at the images, we can find the power button and volume rocker on the right edge of the device.
The Antenna are shifted to the top and bottom edges instead of horizontal lines. As seen on the Moto Z and Moto Z Play, there is large circular camera module which protrudes from the body. It features the primary camera sensor along with dual tone LED flash. Just below that, we have the Moto dimple without any functionalities. Since the device will be launched next year, it will be running on the latest Android 7.0/7.1 Nougat out of the box. While the Chinese variant will be running on Vibe UI, the international variant will get the stock Android UI with added bloatware apps.
In between, the company will be launching the Moto M smartphone later this month in the Indian market. It comes with 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It is powered by 64-bit MediaTek Helio P15 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The device offers 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It sports a 16MP rear camera with PDAF and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The device comes with dual SIM support and offers 4G VoLTE for HD voice calls and faster data speeds.
It is backed by a 3,050mAh non-removable battery and might come with Turbo Charging support. The nano coating on the device makes it at least splash proof. Till date, the Moto M is the only smartphone to come with a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, and USB 3.1 Type-C. While the device is retailing at 1999 Yuan, in India, we can expect the device to cost around Rs. 20,000 price range. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
