ReMarkable 10.3″ E-ink Paper Tablet could replace your Notebooks, Sketchbooks & Printouts

The E-ink displays have gained much popularity from the consumer’s side with the ebook readers like Amazon Kindle. There are even smartphones like YotaPhone which sports the e-ink display on the back of the device while the Sony also launched wearable fitness bands featuring e-ink display. Now a Norwegian tech startup, ReMarkable is bringing a new product featuring e-ink display. The company has announced the ‘Paper Tablet’ that is said to replace the notebooks, sketchbooks, and printouts. Unlike the regular tablets, it only supports PDF, eBooks, and Documents.

The ReMarkable Paper tablet is said to bring real ink-on-paper experience with ultra-low latency. Since the device comes with a huge screen size, the user can seamless create and edit new docs. There is no glass used in making this device which in return makes it less prone to drops. It sports a 10.3″ e-ink display comes with 1872 x 1404 pixels resolution. The tablet is powered by an ARM A9 processor clocked at just 1GHz. There is 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage for saving the work in the offline mode.

Though the user can backup all the content to the cloud, it also has an 8GB of internal storage where the directions can use to them in the offline mode. The 3,000mAh battery can make the device to last for more than a few days. It measures 177 x 256 x 6.7 mm and seems to be on a heavier side by measuring approximately 350 grams. The device runs on the Linux-based Codex OS optimized for low-latency e-ink paper tablet. The Paper Tablet is priced at $379 during the pre-order stage and once the stock is made available in the second half of 2017, the same tablet will be costing $529.

ReMarkable is also selling a Stylus and Folio Case for $79 per unit. Unlike the Apple Pen,this stylus doesn’t feature any battery to charge or Bluetooth for pairing. Using the stylus that sports 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and high-friction pen trip, the user can experience the same feeling as writing on a paper. As of now, it supports only English language and very few doc extensions. However, the company announced to bring in more features in the coming days.
