Samsung to launch two new Virtual Reality Headsets soon
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
2016 has been a great year for Virtual Reality (VR) as we have been seeing a lot of new products in this category this year. Apart from professional virtual reality headsets like the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, virtual reality on smartphones also saw a huge development this year. Google came out with the Daydream program under which the compatible smartphones will be able to take advantage of this feature. Other than that the only reliable and affordable virtual reality solution for smartphones is the Gear VR by Samsung. Gear VR as a product by itself has evolved a lot over time. And now it looks like we will be seeing a couple of more products from Samsung on the same lines.
Recently, Samsung Electronics vice president Dr. Sung-Hoon Hong revealed few details about the future plans of the company with VR at the Virtual Reality Summit in San Diego. He stated that the company is working on two new virtual reality headsets and also revealed the Samsung Gear VR 2 is going to be presented by the company is a short time. It looks like the company has enhanced the rendering engine and also the Gear VR 3 should be ready in near future. According to him, the company is aiming to improve upon the Augmented reality technology that we have been seeing with the Microsoft Hololens and Magic Leap.
With all the discussions and explanations, it looks like the South Korean Smartphone manufacturer indeed has a lot of plans for the VR and AR altogether. The company is working the type of experience which would allow users to interact with virtual experiences in the real world. This sounds kind of complicated indeed but would be a great experience if they managed to achieve that somehow. For instance, let’s say that you are playing a game with the elements of it visible only to you in the real world. In that case, you will also be able to interact with them within the game, even though technically you will be present in the real world. He seems to be very confident of achieving that and he stated that Samsung’s hologram technology is really realistic.
It looks like 2017 is going to be a great year for Samsung in terms of VR technology. We expect them to launch the Gear VR 2 along with the Galaxy S8 at the Unpacked event in Barcelona. Do make a note that it is not confirmed yet. So if you want to know more about the company’s future plans with the VR, etc. then be sure to stay tuned to PhoneRadar as we will update you once we do have more info.
